4 Things That Make Absolutely No Sense About 'Gossip Girl' - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Gossip Girl is one of those guilty pleasure TV shows up there with The Vampire Diaries or Riverdale. Even though it’s been years since the Upper East Siders bid farewell to Gossip Girl, there are still things that don’t make sense about the series. Keep reading to find out what just doesn’t add up about Gossip Girl

Chace Crawford and Leighton Meester in 'Gossip Girl'

‘Gossip Girl’ ran for 6 seasons on The CW

Inspired by Cecily von Ziegesar’s series of books by the same name, Gossip Girl premiered on The CW in September 2007. It quickly gained popularity with viewers for its sometimes wild and outlandish depiction of life for Manhattan’s elite.

For those who haven’t seen every episode multiple times, here’s a refresher. The series follows students at a prestigious school on New York City’s Upper East Side. And the mysterious Gossip Girl blog chronicles their lives.

Gossip Girl made stars of cast members Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf), Blake Lively (Serena van der Woodsen, Chace Crawford (Nate Archibald), Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass), Penn Badgley (Dan Humphrey), and Taylor Momsen (Jenny Humphrey).

From Josh Schwart (The O.C.) and Stephanie Savage, the series ran for six seasons on The CW until it went off the air in 2012.

Dan and Jenny’s commute to and from school

Dan and Jenny aren’t like most of their classmates. Siblings, they are scholarship students at St. Jude’s School for Boys and Constance Billard School for Girls. While they struggle to fit in socially, one of the more real aspects of their lives stands out as making no sense.

Dan and Jenny live in a funky loft in Brooklyn with their dad, Rufus Humphrey (Matthew Settle). It’s in stark contrast to their classmates’ homes that are sprawling multi-million dollar mansions on the Upper East Side.

Daily, Dan and Jenny make the commute from Brooklyn all the way to their private school for class. After school, they do it all over again. If this were real life, Rufus would’ve found an equally respectable school with a fast track to the Ivy Leagues much closer to their loft.

No one on ‘Gossip Girl’ ever does any homework

For a show all about high school students, there isn’t much schoolwork happening. Blair’s goal in life is to go to Yale on her way to ruling the world. But there are only a few scenes where she does homework.

The same goes for Dan. He has every intention of going to Dartmouth but he hardly spends any time studying.

Their parents are hardly ever around

Most of the parents on Gossip Girl are conveniently not around. Rufus and Serena’s mom, Lily van der Woodsen (Kelly Rutherford), make occasional appearances but for the most part, the teens are on their own.

Dan Humphrey is Gossip Girl

The biggest thing that doesn’t make about the entire series is that Dan’s Gossip Girl. Viewers didn’t respond positively to the plot twist and it remains a sticking point to this day.

Even the cast isn’t too happy about it. Crawford and Badgley discussed Dan being Gossip Girl during a 2020 interview and even admitted it didn’t make much sense for the character.

Celebrities stand 6 feet apart on red carpet during pandemic - Insider - INSIDER

blogsjga.blogspot.com
  • The 2020 Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards were held at the Television Centre in London, England, on Friday.
  • At the event's red carpet, "Normal People" stars Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones held a tape measure between themselves to ensure they were standing six feet apart.
  • They also posed without the tape measure while still standing far away from each other.
  • Mescal wore Dior and Cartier for the event, while Edgar-Jones opted for a Miu Miu dress and Jimmy Choo heels.
  • Visit Insider's homepage for more stories.

At one of the first major red-carpet events since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, celebrities posed with a tape measure to ensure social distancing.

On Friday, the 2020 Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards were held at the Television Centre in London, England. "Normal People" stars Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones were in attendance, and posed together on the red carpet.

They did so, however, with a yellow tape measure between them.

As seen in red-carpet photos, Edgar-Jones couldn't help but laugh while holding the tape measure.

Still, keeping a safe distance from others is crucial during this time. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, you should stand at least 6 feet away from people "who are not from your household in both indoor and outdoor spaces." In doing so, you can avoid coming into contact with infected droplets from coughs, sneezes, and talking, according to the CDC.

The costars eventually ditched the tape measure, but still stood far away from each other while posing for photos.

The resulting images look drastically different than standard red-carpet photos, in which celebrities are often seen hugging and standing side by side.

Despite the social-distancing measures in place, both Mescal and Edgar-Jones were able to make fashion statements on the red carpet. On Instagram, Mescal credited Dior and Cartier with his formal-meets-casual look, which included a gray suit paired with white sneakers and a matching T-shirt.

Edgar-Jones, on the other hand, looked stunning in a sleeveless Miu Miu dress with a bedazzled top and scalloped, ankle-length skirt. She also donned a $1,450 pair of Jimmy Choo heels, which were black with a rhinestone, bow strap.

On Instagram, Edgar-Jones thanked Hourglass Cosmetics for creating her red-carpet beauty look, and said it felt "so lovely to wear something other than slippers."

Other celebrities at the awards event took additional measures to ensure their safety. Actor Adrian Lester, for example, wore a blue mask when arriving at the Television Centre.

Others, including comedian Aisling Bea, comedian Richard Ayoade, and TV presenter Stacey Dooley, posed alone on the red carpet.

Netflix’s New Show ‘Get Even’ Is a Perfect Blend of ‘Gossip Girl’ and ‘Pretty Little Liars’ - Glamour

In my opinion, there’s a holy trinity of teen TV shows: Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, and The O.C. But Netflix’s Get Even is now up there for me too, which means my trinity is now a quartet.

That’s a lofty statement, but I mean every word. Get Even—a British show that finds its American home on Netflix starting July 31—is just as dishy, intriguing, and addictive as GG and PLL. In fact, it’s essentially a perfect hybrid of the two.

The series centers on four girls—Kitty (Kim Adis), Bree (Mia Mckenna Bruce), Margot (Bethany Antonia), and Olivia (Jessica Alexander)—who attend an elite private school. They’re all in different cliques but have formed a secret club called D.G.M. (“don’t get mad”…get even!) that sets out to expose and take down bullies. But their vigilante work takes a turn after their latest target, a douchey jock, is murdered. Whoever did it has an axe to grind with D.G.M., as the murder scene is framed to make it look as though they’re the culprits. The only problem is no one—the cops, other students—knows who D.G.M. is. (Except for the viewers, of course. We’re in on the secret.)

Clockwise: Margot (Bethany Antonia), Kitty (Kim Adis), Olivia (Jessica Alexander), and Bree (Mia McKenna-Bruce) in Get Even

Netflix

What transpires is 10 episodes of glossy melodrama served with a witty, British garnish. There are burgeoning romances, love triangles, mean-girl spats, and beautiful people vacantly lounging around—all the hallmarks of escapist teen fare.

It really is wild how on-the-nose Get Even is with Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars. You have an anonymous high-tech group keeping tails on students (GG), a murder mystery (PLL), enviable uniforms (GG), an actor who looks just like Alison DiLaurentis (PLL)… the list goes on and on. It’s as though the universe knew I’d been craving a show to fill the void Blair Waldorf and Hanna Marin left and gifted me Get Even. (But seriously, take a look at the actor who plays Olivia, below. Is she not Alison’s twin?!)

All the gossip and drama that's gone down since Selling Sunset season two - The Tab

We all know that Selling Sunset is full of drama, arguments, gossip and turmoil. But don’t for one second be under the impression that all that stops when the cameras aren’t rolling.

Oh no, since season two aired earlier this year there’s already been countless scandals surrounding the cast. Think huge arguments, bombshell interviews and even proposals. Here’s everything which has played out since season two, ahead of season three being released on Netflix next week.

Chrishell blocked Christine on Instagram

Selling Sunset, gossip, drama, latest, news, Netflix, season two, season three, Chrishell

via Instagram @chrishell.stause

We’ve always known that Chrishell Stause and Christine Quinn’s relationship isn’t exactly plain sailing. But Chrishell has revealed that it’s so bad, she blocked her on Instagram.

She told BBC’s The Reality Tea podcast: “I’m just going to be very honest with you guys, I have her blocked – and it’s one of those things where I think that does come across very childish and ridiculous. But I have the screenshots. She knows why she’s blocked. I’m sure she hopes that I never show you guys why she’s blocked, because it would be embarrassing to her.”

Then Chrishell went IN on Christine for talking about her divorce in an interview

Chrishell had a few words to say about fellow realtor Christine over her talking to the press about her divorce. On Twitter, she called Christine “desperate” and says she has “zero knowledge” of the situation she is talking about.

Christine did a video interview with Page Six to promote the third season. In the interview, she claimed there were signs Chrishell’s marriage to Justin Harley was in trouble before their shock split in November. She said the pair had been “in therapy for a while”.

Christine said: “We all just thought maybe they were having communication problems for a while. We heard that they were in therapy, so obviously there were some issues going on with them.”

Chrishell hit back at Christine on Twitter. She tweeted saying: “I just learned Christine is giving press ‘information’ about my divorce. Let me be VERY clear. She knows absolutely nothing about the situation and is obviously desperate to gain attention by doing so. Anything from her is either a complete lie or total conjecture on her part.”

She followed up with another tweet which read: “It’s so frustrating and unfortunate that someone would use someone’s personal painful situation to get press for themselves. I can’t say I am surprised, but please check the source. She has absolutely zero knowledge of the marriage we had.”

In the comments below, Christine replied to a fan with: “I didn’t say anything bad at all.”

Apparently there was an ‘incident’ at Christine’s wedding

Selling Sunset, gossip, drama, latest, news, Netflix, season two, season three, Christine Quinn

We know that a big storyline in season three is going to Christine’s fancy AF wedding to Christian. She wears a black dress and the day was winter wonderland-themed, in a downtown Los Angeles cathedral. The ceremony was in December and there were 75 guests – including some of the Selling Sunset stars.

Maya has hinted that something went down at ceremony – which we will see in the new episodes. She told The Metro: “Christine is not going casual at all on anything. The wedding was very over the top, amazing, beautiful venue. The dress…leave it to Christine to pull a fashion statement.” She adds: “We had some incident… obviously Chrishell is going through the divorce so that’s also in season three.”

Selling Sunset, gossip, drama, latest, news, Netflix, season two, season three, Chrishell, Heather

In the season three trailer we can see the girls discussing the divorce at the wedding, before Chrishell storms out saying” “I don’t want to do this anymore”.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?! 👀

And Christine had coronavirus at the wedding!!!

Selling Sunset, gossip, drama, latest, news, Netflix, season two, season three, Christine, Chrishell, wedding

Yes, you did read that right. Christine has said she was feeling sick on her wedding day, and has since found out she had coronavirus.

Talking to Goss Chats, she said: “I was really, really sick on my wedding day. I actually had, which I now know, was corona. I got really sick in late December and we were travelling. I was sick for about a month when we were filming. I couldn’t even have a bachelorette party, I was so bummed about that. That time was such a high but a low at the same time.”

Heather got engaged!!!

In season two, Heather revealed she had a new boyfriend. She was dating Tarek El Moussa, and even said she’s “besties” with his daughter. Tarek is the host of  Flip or Flop and Flipping 101, both about renovating homes, and describes himself as a “self-made celebrity real estate investor.” The pair confirmed their relationship together last August and moved in together in January.

Earlier this week, Heather announced they’ve got engaged!! She posted a cute picture of him placing the ring on her finger, captioned: “The Future Mrs. Tarek El Moussa!!!!”

Christine has hinted that she might be leaving The Oppenheim Group and starting her own brokerage?!

You can’t deny, Christine is the queen of Selling Sunset. The Oppenheim Group simply wouldn’t be the same without her. But she has hinted that she may be leaving, in favour of a female-led company.

She told The Metro: “You know, Davina and I have had conversations, and Maya has had conversations, and Heather has had conversations, all together and separate. All I’m going to say is, it’s hard working for a man. It is. I’m not going to lie. So there’s times where we’ve definitely thought about doing other things. And maybe…. I don’t know, I’ll feel at that point. Right now I do like being a part of [the] family, I really, really do. I like having that dynamic but it needs to have a little bit of healing, and mend itself first. If I ever saw myself leaving, it would be to work with only women.”

She added that a lot of tension in the office has changed the dynamic, saying: “I used to enjoy going to the office, it used to be fun for me. It used to be something I would love to do. Now it’s very awkward and there’s a lot of tension because filming a television show… You go through the drama three times.”

She then hinted at starting her own brokerage, with a tweet which read: “Ladies, would you work with me if I had my own brokerage?”

Where do I sign up?!

Queer Eye’s Karamo is going to be making a cameo in season three

Quiz: Did Karamo from Queer Eye or Gandhi say this quote?

Just when you thought Selling Sunset couldn’t get any better, Christine has confirmed that Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown is going to feature in the new season!! She told BBC Radio 1’s The Reality Tea Podcast: “Karamo Brown is going to be featured in season three. He’s one of my best friends and a client of mine. So we’re going to see him, which is really exciting.”

Christine has also hinted that her and Heather aren’t getting along

Christine has made a sly dig at Heather, which may be a hint that those two aren’t exactly on the best terms going into season three. She’s reported to have said they “get into a fight” during season three, and she compared Heather and her now fiancee Tarek to Spencer and Heidi Pratt.

In an interview with Page Six, Christine said: “It’s really funny to see Heather’s relationship play out because her and her boyfriend have such an interesting dynamic. I call them ‘Speidi’ all the time because it’s like articles all the time about baking cookies, you know, watching movies.” I’m not sure what all this means, but knowing Selling Sunset – it means there is going to be drama.

Wow. This is A LOT.

Selling Sunset season three is available on Netflix from August 7th. For all the latest Netflix news, drops and memes like The Holy Church of Netflix on Facebook.

Real Housewives Of New York City: Leah McSweeney calls Ramona Singer 'despicable' for bipolar gossip - Daily Mail

Real Housewives Of New York City: Leah McSweeney calls Ramona Singer 'despicable' for spreading bipolar gossip

Leah McSweeney called Ramona Singer 'despicable' for telling everyone about her bipolar disorder on Thursday's episode of The Real Housewives Of New York City.

The 37-year-old Married To The Mob designer had kept her diagnosis under wraps and she was horrified to learn that Ramona, 63, had been talking about it.

'It's just a line you don't cross,' Leah told Dorinda Medley, 55, emphasizing that Ramona must have dug up the information herself, which she called 'repulsive as f***.'

Leah and Ramona had been at odds since the latter's 63rd birthday party, when Leah performed an 'embarrassing' lap dance on Luann de Lesseps, 55, in front of guests.

When Ramona caught wind of what was happening at her event, she marched over to Leah, yanked the hem of her dress down, then stormed off camera, threatening to quit RHONY.

She later revealed to Sonja Morgan, 56, that she had new gossip about Leah.

'You know what?' Ramona offered. 'She shouldn't be drinking. I found out she's bipolar, and she's on medication, and I know people who are bipolar, and you cannot mix alcohol with meds. It makes you act not responsible. It's actually very dangerous.'

In a confessional, Ramona said she'd found out about Leah's diagnosis through her girlfriends, who had read it themselves on the younger woman's blog.

'Aha!' Ramona said to the cameras, recalling her reaction. 'That explains it all.'

When Leah heard that Ramona was blaming her behavior on the diagnosis, she was stunned and angry.

'I was diagnosed with Bipolar II on my 30th birthday, and really dedicated the last seven years of my life to getting it under control and getting myself into a good place,' she revealed, adding that she wasn't taking medication. 'For her to keep talking about in this way is despicable.'

Listening to both sides, Dorinda observed, 'Ramona has two methods of trying to get to someone: Sophomoric narcissism or a complete smear campaign. This is a smear campaign.'

As the season 12 episode opened, the cast was in better spirits, gathering at the Angelo David Salon in Manhattan to help Luann with a worthy cause.

The cabaret singer had recently pledged to help women affiliated with the Fortune Society, a non-profit that helps people get their lives back after incarceration.

She took a group of women to the salon for makeovers, and was joined by her castmates, who immediately started talking about Ramona's birthday.

Sonja vaguely remembered dancing on a glass table, and breaking it into shards with the heel of her stilettos.

A piece of the glass was subsequently embedded in Dorinda's foot.

Ramona urged Sonja to stop drinking so much, offering that she had become 'a liability.'

'I don't want you to end up like Luann did,' Ramona said, referring to their pal's intoxicated 2017 arrest. 'You have a little too much to drink, and then you have a situation…'

'And end up in the wrong hotel room or something,' Sonja finished, agreeing that she would 'just have to go back to champagne or wine,' and cut out the vodka.

Leah knew she had to confront Ramona about what happened at the event, and Dorinda cautioned that Ramona might not be willing to talk about it.

'I think Ramona is threatened by you,' she said. 'And I'll tell you why. You're almost 30 years younger than she is. You're thin. You're beautiful. You own the one thing she can't have: Youth.'

As Sonja apologized to Ramona and explained that she'd been 'in a bad place' on the day of her party, Leah couldn't help herself and burst into their conversation.

'Ramona is a terrible person, and everybody knows it,' Leah spat. 'She's a b****, she doesn't support women, and she's phony. And she singles me out. And you're one of her best friends and she treats you like s***. Because that's a Ramona. And I'm leaving.'

Ramona stared at Sonja, pointedly ignoring Leah's words, then left to check on the women getting makeovers.

'And then her sister tells me I cheapen the group of friends?' Leah continued, remembering a moment from the birthday party. 'B****, I elevate this s***. Get out of here.'

A short time later, Dorinda, Ramona and Sonja gathered again at the Manhattan department store Century 21, where Sonja's clothing line, Sonja Morgan New York, was being featured.

The trio talked about the upcoming RHONY trip to Cancun, where Ramona promised to be 'civil' to Leah, acknowledging that their vacation home had 12,000 feet of space.

Ramona told Sonja what she'd found out about their newest castmate, which puzzled Sonja.

'Why is Ramona telling me this, and where is she getting her information?' she asked. 'Is it true, even? I don't want to get my wheels spinning again. I'm getting along with Leah really well right now.'

Ramona was really fed up with Leah, recalling three times during season 12 that the designer had gotten too drunk at her events.

'I mean, she trashed my [Southampton] home with the torches, I forgave her,' she told Sonja. 'She acted crazy in Newport, I forgave her. Now my birthday party? No. It's three times you're out. Three strikes.'

The forecast for the Mexico trip was looking dire, but everyone tried to stay positive on the way to Cancun.

'Obviously, me and Ramona do need to talk about what's gone on,' Leah said as they arrived. 'But I'm in Mexico for the first time and I want to f***ing enjoy myself.'

Villa Casa Del Mar, the group's luxurious vacation home, came with its own pool, beach, and bar.

Ramona immediately walked into the pool with her clothes on and hooked one leg into a unicorn float, then flipped upside down and got soaking wet.

Moments later, she corralled Sonja and reiterated that she had been 'extremely hurt' by Leah's behavior at her party, and the fact that she had to be the one to pull her skirt down.

After the meal, Dorinda allocated rooms to the cast by having them answer trivia questions.

Dorinda told Leah what Ramona had been saying, which made Leah feel nervous for dinner.

Before that meal, she called her daughter Kier, 12, for support and had Dorinda tweak her outfit so it passed muster.

Sonja, who seemed very drunk, got out of bed naked and slurringly asked the property's beauty team to make her hair 'look amazing.'

Ramona worried that Sonja was acting so oddly for someone who hadn't had that much to drink, suggesting, 'She must be on some medication that makes her act that way.'

Sonja told her pals she'd been drinking Coca-Cola with rosé, which Luann found ridiculous.

'She's in the bag already,' she told Dorinda, as Sonja stood up and tossed off her robe again, stomping in front of everyone in her room naked.

Over dinner, the chef, Eduardo tried to teach the cast to make ceviche, but Sonja was already too far gone, drawling, 'I've reached my limit.'

'Leah!' she blurted. 'Say what you have to say to Ramona! In a kind manner.'

'I don't have that much to say,' Leah told Ramona. 'I'm really just disappointed that you would talk about my depression issues behind my back as a way to belittle me, when I've actually overcome all of them.'

'Maybe I'm trying to make an excuse for your behavior having hurt me,' Ramona returned, adding that she didn't want to get into a public conversation.

Leah persisted, saying, 'It's actually disgusting that a group of women who are in their sixties and seventies…'

'You hurt me,' Ramona interrupted. 'Do you get it? The fact that you don't get it hurts me more, because I took you in, okay?'

Leah repeatedly asked Ramona how she hurt her, but the woman had no answer.

'You're a manipulator,' Leah recognized, as Ramona brought up the past incidents in which Leah got very drunk, and Leah pointed out that those were 'months ago.'

'I'M crazy,' Ramona fulminated. 'You're right, you're right, you're right. Lovely to know you.'

'Ramona cares about you,' Sonja started to tell Leah, and Ramona interjected, 'Sonja, you're drunk right now, so don't get involved.'

'I'm not drunk,' Sonja swore. 'I wanna protect her.'

She turned to Leah and said, 'When you come into this group, you can't do certain things, 'cause they don't know you.'

'I can do whatever I want,' Leah declared. 'And I didn't do anything. If you saw my p***y, you'd remember it, believe me. No one saw my vagina that night. She needs to stop talking about my vagina.'

'I'm not talking about vaginas; it's disgusting,' Ramona said, storming off again.

The episode closed with a note that it was 'to be continued' on next week's season 12 finale on Bravo.
