Gossip columnist who threatened to 'out' Rebel Wilson as gay addresses the controversy AGAIN - Daily Mail

Michelle Trachtenberg's Georgina Sparks Just Made Her Gossip Girl Return—And It Was Epic - E! Online - E! NEWS

So, what exactly was Georgina's big plan for Kate? "Oh, no biggies, just destroying Max Wolfe's parents' re-wedding."

When Kate refused to do that, Georgina turned to threats. "Well, then it looks like I have no choice, but to turn you in to the police," she stated. "Cyber stalking and bullying carries up to three years in prison. Defamatory libel, another five years. Criminal harassment, that's 10 more. Looks like I own you from here on out, KK."

And so together, Kate and Georgina destroyed the happy nuptials by stealing the wedding outfits, messing with the ambiance and scheduling a police raid on the venue. On why Georgina had Kate interfere with the wedding, the former Gossip Girl noted, "This was just a test—and you passed. We make a great team, you and I."

Translation: We haven't seen the last of Georgina this season.

'Gossip Girl' Season Two, Episode 6 Recap - Vulture

Gossip Girl

How to Bury a Millionaire

Season 2 Episode 6

Editor’s Rating 4 stars

Photo: Vulture; Photo: Karolina Wojtasik/HBO Max

knew Graham was dating Julien for her daddy!

After her paramour takes too long pussyfooting around to go public, Julien brings in the big guns: Luna La. Luna spots Graham greeting a pregnant woman and whispering into her pregnant belly, which is enough evidence for her to report back to Julien, who, by the way, got semi-outed by Gossip Girl as dating a married man. Julien is convinced that this gossip is what pulled her partnership with LVMH. Please, Julien. Be serious! LVMH is international, and having a belle de jour is far too puritanical a reason to end a major deal. If this was an American brand, maybe, but I guarantee the French don’t give a fuck about who you’re fucking.

Julien convinces Graham to accompany her to Max’s dads’ vow renewal, where she plans to “stop the story” live. The pregnant woman, also known as Graham’s sister, stops the actual story, and boy is she bothered by her brother’s antics. She reveals to Julien that she had wanted to file suit against Daddy Davis but couldn’t cover legal fees. Graham was dating Julien to avenge his sister before he realized that Julien had been wronged too. We don’t find out who the sister’s baby daddy is, though, and I am praying that Julien and Zoya aren’t about to inherit another half-sister because I cannot keep going with Graham. Let this be the end of all lines: Davis’s and the story’s. Oh, and also, it turns out that Julien’s partnership was pulled because her income goes straight to a trust under her dad’s name and LVMH didn’t want any ties back to Davis. Girl, just open an HYSA at Capital One! This problem has a straightforward solution.

Now that that’s out of the way, time for the main course of tonight’s episode. Welcome back to our very own Georgia Sparks and Nelly Yuki! God, Georgina is good. I should have known she was behind the blackmailing. After all, she’s been tormenting Dan and Serena for years! She kidnaps Kate (while she’s on the phone with Jordan, who’s confessing his love to her), drugs her in the Humphrey-Van der Woodsen residence, and announces the new world order. The first order of business is to sabotage Gideon and Roy’s vow renewal for unknown reasons and enlist Kate to do all her dirty work. It seems like there’s a new crazy bitch around here after all, and I wonder how much screen time she’ll be getting amid Jordan’s rather sudden resignation.

Meanwhile, Georgina’s protĂ©gĂ©, I mean son, Milo, is helping Zoya track down her one-night stand from Philly after she discovers a sex tape starring her (under her Philly alias, Monet de Haan) is circulating. As if securing Plan B wasn’t bad enough! Give this girl a break! Zoya invites Drew (I think that’s his name) to the vow renewal under the promise that poet Amanda Gorman is performing. She snatches his phone and hands it off to a spy who searches it for the sex tape only to find that the phone is completely clean. Drew discovers them sleuthing and owns up to the tape, offering up some sob story about schoolboys that bully him because he’s a virgin … so he thought that taping his and Zoya’s hookup was a solution that made sense. He claims to have deleted all copies, but that doesn’t change the fact that he literally produced illegal child porn! Zoya tells him off, but I find myself yearning for more. There’s no way that Drew can get away with this! And that’s when Monet swoops in, letting little Z know that she’s taken care of it, de Haan style. It looks like Drew’s school isn’t too pleased to hear about his extracurricular activities and the boy has been expelled!

Nelly shows up as New York Magazine’s youngest deputy editor and is ready to make a name for herself with Obie’s big exposĂ© on his family. He tells her that the Bergmanns knowingly broke ground on apartment buildings that have started sinking in the soil much too fast and his mom paid someone to doctor the reports. Too bad Obie is an amateur compared to Mommie Dearest and strikes too late. He’s playing checkers; she’s playing 3-D chess. The fact that the Bergmanns cut Obie off just makes him look more thirsty for blood. He’s just a brat going after the Bergmanns because he no longer has a black card. Daniela takes the fall for the Bergmanns, which kills Obie’s chances of ever bringing the scandal to light, and then kills herself after going public. TrĂšs dark!

On a lighter note, this episode gives me my favorite dynamic: Max and Audrey planning, scheming, and problem-solving. I’m not kidding. I love these two together. Their chemistry and chaos remind me of early Chuck and Blair, who I’m missing more than ever amid Georgina’s resurgence. After a last-minute venue cancellation, the pair are off to the races and manage to book the Brooklyn Academy of Music. One question: How much money did big BAM pay HBO Max? It’s all Graham can talk about, and now Roy and Gideon are holding their vow renewal there? Not for long, though! Thanks to Georgina and her severe hairstyles, the ceremony is sabotaged. Kiki’s designs are duped with Macy’s replacements, NYPD floods the place, and sitting front row are Roy’s ghosts from Grindr. Good thing true love isn’t about pomp and circumstance! Roy and Gideon haul their wilted chuppah home and have an intimate ceremony in front of their nearest and dearest! Love wins, as they say!

• Spotted: Joshua Safran and Stephanie Savage listed in Zoya’s contacts, a meta moment.

• How much money does Aki’s dad really have? “Bezos once asked them for a loan,” he tells Obie.

Gossip is back. Good. - Vox.com

2022, like many a year before it, was exhausting. The pandemic still loomed, Russia waged an unthinkable war on Ukraine, Kanye went full Nazi, the Supreme Court upended settled law right and left, including Roe v. Wade, and Elon Musk took over Twitter and promptly wrecked it. We suffered through historically high inflation, continued supply chain breakdowns, and, like, whatever happened with Ticketmaster.

Reality’s march toward the surreal proceeded apace.

In between all of that endlessly exhausting big news, however, the other things we cared about were ... refreshingly banal. Whether your bag was celebrity drama, royal drama, morning TV drama, or even education drama, 2022 had a scandal for you.

It wasn’t all glee; more than a few of this year’s scandals were painful, and some were even arguably dangerous. But of all things, gossip — plain, ordinary, normal, low-stakes gossip — might have been the saving grace of 2022.

Your Gossip Year, Wrapped

How much did we love gossip this year? Let us count the ways.

We were listening to the Normal Gossip podcast, gossiping about Normal Gossip, and gossiping about the Normal Gossip gossip. We were reading gossip influencer Deuxmoi, gossiping about Deuxmoi, and gossiping about the Deuxmoi gossip. We were eavesdropping. We were sipping the tea, and we were spilling it.

And there was so much tea to spill! Desus and Mero? Say it ain’t so! The Try Guys? Broke our hearts as well as our brains. Funny Girl? We never knew we cared so much about Broadway drama or whether Lea Michele can read.

Among A-listers, things were popping: Bennifer got married; Brangelina kept getting divorced. Chris Rock got slapped, and Julia Fox got papped. The late Queen Elizabeth may have been rolling in her grave over the latest season of The Crown and all the drama it brought with it, but Meghan and Harry certainly weren’t about to let the royals off easy.

As for Olivia Wilde’s twisty film Don’t Worry Darling, it was a scandal so juicy its scandals had scandals. Did the stars all hate each other? Did Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine? Did Olivia fire Shia LaBeouf or did he quit? Are Wilde and star Florence Pugh friends or enemies? Was ex-husband Jason Sudeikis trying to publicly humiliate Wilde by serving her divorce papers onstage during the controversial film’s press tour, or was it just an exasperated response to a year of cheating rumors, on-set drama, and even more press tour drama? We can offer no answers, but the endless bad press yielded results: The film was a modest box office hit in its September release and has since earned nearly $90 million worldwide.

The Don’t Worry Darling scandal encapsulated the effervescence of the year in scandal: Not just a tawdry drama, not just a he-said/she-said debate, but a whole dramatic cinematic universe of secrets and shocking twists. This year’s scandals weren’t one-and-done tales: They were constantly unfolding, cascading, expanding, from the three-arc narratives playing out weekly in Normal Gossip’s salacious anonymized stories to Funny Girl’s months-long casting saga to the still perpetually unraveling royal narrative about Meghan and Harry. And because we live in the future, many of these scandals also came replete with receipts: lurid photos, texts, screenshots, video evidence, and even instant replays. This was high drama, 2022-style.

Cheating scandals dominated the tabloid headlines this year, and many of them played out with a gravitas that marked a post-Me-Too tonal shift. Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine drew massive backlash in October after multiple much-younger women accused him of inappropriate flirting while married to supermodel Behati Prinsloo — although he nearly derailed his own cheating drama by sending such bad sexts they skipped “problematic” and landed on the doorstep of “embarrassing.”

A few days after news of Levine’s cheating scandal broke, actress Nia Long grabbed headlines when the Boston Celtics suspended her husband, head coach Ime Udoka, for one year following an investigation into his alleged relationship with a junior member of his staff. Once again, the public backlash conveyed shock and outrage that such an ideal woman could find herself with a philandering spouse.

The most dramatic and perplexing cheating scandal of all came with the revelation that Ned Fulmer, lately of popular informational YouTube group (and BuzzFeed offshoot) the Try Guys, had cheated on his wife. The Try Guys had cultivated strong parasocial relationships with their fans, and Fulmer in particular had branded himself as the Wife Guy. Consequently, the Try Guys cheating scandal in particular carried the sting of betrayal for many fans, and fully subsumed social media in collective shock, hurt, and mourning. The other Try Guys (Keith Habersberger, Eugene Lee Yang, and Zach Kornfeld) responded swiftly, cutting ties with Fulmer and issuing a somber public statement.

For the most part, the public’s attitude toward cheating scandals remains condemnatory — for good reason, given the shattering impact infidelity can have on the wronged partner and family members. Just when you might have thought cheating scandals had become fully fixed in the public’s mind as a form of emotional abuse, however, 2022 threw in one last late-year twist: a cheating scandal that gained fans and supporters instead of drawing backlash.

Good Morning America anchors T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach closed out the year with an old-fashioned love affair that surprisingly won the hearts of the public instead of its judgment. A torrent of leaked photos revealed them being winningly cute and affectionate together, and the public responded with glee. Both Holmes and Robach had reportedly already separated from their previous partners before the affair began — though this story seems complicated and more revelations may be on the way. Still, that reassurance was enough to make this cheating scandal more of a delightful treat for the public than a cause for moral outrage. Who knew morning show pundits could so effectively steal the show from the celebs they interview?

We can’t pretend that all of the year’s biggest gossip was fully banal, however. Several of the biggest scandals of the year had serious overtones and even more serious repercussions. Throughout the spring, the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial dominated the headlines, yielding the kind of thorny situations people love to debate — but the glee people felt in, especially, attacking Amber Heard was too sobering to feel like gossip. Megan Thee Stallion has faced a similar public gauntlet throughout the Torey Lanez shooting trial, during which the public has often treated her like the accused even though he’s the one on trial. In both situations, the draining court process and the implicit misogyny of the public’s reaction toward these women serve to mediate the joy we find in other scandals of the year.

In a less criminal but still costly incident, Will Smith’s shocking Oscars slap resulted in a 10-year award show ban from the Academy and prompted many people to weigh in with dire speculation about his mental health. He later described the incident to Trevor Noah as “bottled-up rage,” which prompted the New York Times to declare 2022 “the year we lost it.” Also struggling to keep it together: Ezra Miller, whose year of volatility involved them doing everything from starting fights over bad barroom karaoke and brandishing knives at friends to far more concerning allegations that they were, uh, maybe developing an Icelandic sex cult and grooming multiple underaged teens. The Flash star seems poised to barely hang onto their franchise role; Warner Bros. wrangled them into submission by August, amid reports that Miller had previously been a disaster on set. Miller said in a statement that they would be seeking treatment for “complex mental health issues.”

Meanwhile, Kanye West has increasingly spiraled. Ye, who has been open about his mental health struggles in the past, hasn’t mentioned such struggles lately even as he apparently torpedoes his career. His increasingly erratic and distressing behavior initially seemed like an extreme post-divorce life crisis (bullying Pete Davidson), before becoming truly stunning. Ye’s shocking new willingness to pal around with avowed white supremacists and his newfound commitment to vile antisemitism is exactly the kind of scandal that’s too painful and harmful to reduce to gossip. We can’t reduce it to a mental health struggle either, given that extreme racism is not currently considered a mental health disorder (though there’s some debate about whether it should be).

Still, the overwhelming awfulness of Kanye West praising Hitler is exactly the kind of news we needed all the other 2022 gossip to distract us from.

We needed a break. Gossip gave it to us.

Gossip wasn’t only a petty distraction this year; it might have been the equivalent of a collective sigh of relief.

After all, we’ve just lived through a half-decade of extreme planetary stress: a volatile Trump presidency, a wearying pandemic whose long-term consequences are still unfolding, an attempted insurrection, a terrible war, and an ongoing global climate crisis.

But as most of those situations passed, things seemed to be stabilizing in other ways: The Biden presidency proved surprisingly resilient; the job market opened up. We prosecuted the insurrectionists! We freed Brittney Griner! We inched closer to harnessing fusion energy!

2022 was, in essence, a moment for cautious optimism: An exhale, finally, of the breath you’d been holding ever since you first started to feel like somewhere, somehow, things had gone horribly wrong; that everything was falling completely off the rails with no end in sight. 2022 was a respite, and we filled that space with things that felt, for the most part, low-stakes and refreshingly petty. “I’m not surprised that years of social crisis — in a society that barely qualifies as such — have created an audience for low-stakes sensationalism with a human-interest angle,” Sewanee professor Maha Jafri told Time in a recent look at the year in gossip.

That’s the genius of a podcast titled Normal Gossip. Former Vox writer Kelsey McKinney’s podcast, which became a breakout hit over the summer following its January launch, traffics in the idea that not only is gossiping normal and healthy, it might be just what we need right now. “[During the pandemic] I wasn’t getting my regular fill of just, like, funny inconsequential stories to tell bartenders or to repeat to friends,” McKinney said in an interview about the show’s founding. “This made me sad because discovering those little stories is one of my favorite things about being a journalist and about being a person.”

In other words, being able to gossip is a return to normalcy. A world where we, collectively, have the bandwidth to indulge in petty gossip is a world that feels like the way it used to feel. Did we fully appreciate before this year the simple goodness of talking in low whispers (or subtweets) about tawdry secrets and scurrilous goings-on? Did you ever think you would care so much about who Pete Davidson is dating?

Gossip made this year bearable in countless ways. Even better, the 2023 drama is already shaping up to be wild. So for the new year, pop the champagne and put on the kettle — the tea is gonna be hotter than ever.

Democrat David Ortiz calls female reporter 'gossip and mean girl' - coloradopolitics.com

A House representative accused a female Colorado Politics reporter of being a "gossip and mean girl" in reaction to a story that explores what Democrats' dominance in the November elections means for policymaking next year.

The comments came from State Rep. David Ortiz, D-Centennial, who made a name for himself in his first two years at the state House fighting for LGBTQ+ rights and against discrimination that individuals who use wheelchairs, like him, face.

Ortiz' comments on Twitter drew silence from House Democratic Speaker-elect Julie McCluskie, D-Dillon. Some 24 hours after the tweet was posted, a spokesman said he was unable to reach McCluskie, who was "still offline from the holidays." The spokesman indicated other members of the caucus "are all away and out of the office for the holidays."

Caucus members often equate silence to complicity in cases of discrimination.

Ortiz' tweet complained about what he described as desperation by the print media manifested in the pursuit of "drama and clickbait stories," instead of "doing actual journalism."

"Report facts and the news. Don’t try to gossip and mean girl your way to clicks and ratings," the tweet continued.

He based his assessment, he said, on the headlines of stories about the legislature in the last few weeks.

When a Twitter user asked Ortiz to provide an example, he posted a link to the Colorado Politics story published on Dec. 24, which reporter Hannah Metzger wrote.

Colorado lawmakers move further left, but will the laws follow suit? | COVER STORY

Twenty-four hours later, Ortiz doubled down on his criticism.

"Speculation and gossip is not what I consider excellent reporting. Could do an actual report on housing crisis and different means that legislators are using to try and solve those problems from Republicans to moderate democrats to progressive," Ortiz said.

"Disagree away, that's your right," Poblete told Ortiz. "But to label a young woman’s work as an effort to 'gossip and mean girl' is sexist, full stop. And the fact that you’ve fired off three responses without acknowledging that is telling."

That prompted a response from an ABC field producer in Colorado.

"Also just say you’re sorry for being sexist," Jeffrey Cook told Ortiz. "You never would have phrased it the way you did if it wasn’t a young woman you were targeting."

Ortiz apologized, but not directly to Metzger.

"I apologize. Was clearly not my intent. Apologies a million times over," he said.

Transfer Gossip: Man Utd, Chelsea battling Bayern for influential Leeds star; Serie A forward wants Arsenal move - TEAMtalk

Manchester United and Chelsea are in a race with Bayern Munich to sign a highly rated player from Leeds, a Serie A goalscorer wants to join Arsenal next, while Monday’s Transfer Gossip claims Newcastle are in the mix for a Spanish talent.

MAN UTD, CHELSEA EYE ILLAN MESLIER

The chase for Illan Meslier’s signature is hotting up with Man Utd, Chelsea and Bayern all named as clubs wanting to land him from Leeds.

Meslier has enjoyed two and a half good seasons in the Premier League with the Whites. He has proven himself to be a quality shot-stopper, as he regularly faces plenty of efforts due to Leeds’ brazen style of play.

At times, the Frenchman can look like he is flapping for a cross or corner. But overall, he is one of the best young keepers in England and possibly in Europe as a whole. And he is certainly one of the most influential players in the Leeds squad.

His Leeds contract runs until summer 2026 so Jesse Marsch’s team are not worried about a free-transfer exit any time soon. However, they may have to sell if a major club submits a colossal bid for him.

Man Utd and Tottenham have generally been viewed as the prime suitors for Meslier in recent months. According to an update from French source Media Foot, Man Utd are firmly in the race, but Spurs seem to be out of it.

The report states the Red Devils, along with Prem rivals Chelsea, are ‘already on the spot’ for Meslier. Unfortunately for the duo, Bayern will now provide competition to snap him up.

The German giants are searching for a new keeper following Manuel Neuer’s leg break. They like the look of Aston Villa star Emi Martinez but are also considering a move for Meslier.

Bayern have made contact with Meslier’s agent to find out whether he would be open to a transfer there. They are currently awaiting the response.

Leeds man wants Prem stay

Bayern’s initial talks for the 22-year-old put them ahead of Man Utd and Chelsea right now. But there does seem to be one big factor which could see him link up with Man Utd or Chelsea instead.

Media Foot claim Meslier would rather remain in the Premier League than move to a different division. As such, Bayern cannot be considered the ‘favourites’ to complete a deal.

This puts Man Utd and Chelsea in a strong position. Should they view Meslier as a potential signing, then they now need to begin talks with his agent and Leeds to get the move over the line.

Both Erik ten Hag and Graham Potter are facing goalkeeping headaches. Ten Hag wants a replacement for David de Gea, while Potter is currently deciding between Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy.

Meslier would be a great successor for De Gea at Old Trafford. And he can play out from the back well, which is exactly what Ten Hag is looking for.

Chelsea already have two experienced keepers, but both of them have a tendency to make mistakes. Perhaps Potter could change things up completely and capture Meslier from Leeds.

BIG ARSENAL HINT FROM AC MILAN STAR

AC Milan forward Rafael Leao has made a big suggestion his next club could be Arsenal, rather than London rivals Chelsea.

Leao is in great form for Milan, having notched seven goals and nine assists in 20 games this term. He put in some good substitute performances with Portugal at the World Cup and will feel he should have been given a starting spot.

As Leao’s Milan contract expires in summer 2024, the Rossoneri are negotiating fresh terms. But the winger is aware of interest from the Prem and this is making him consider a 2023 transfer.

Chelsea are hot on his trail, while Man Utd view him as a backup option in case they fail to sign Cody Gakpo from PSV. Instead, though, there is a good chance Leao will end up at Arsenal in the future.

During a recent interview, he was asked about playing in England, and he replied by saying (via the Daily Mirror): “Yes, in the future. But now I’m 100 per cent focused on Milan. I’m at a top club and I’m under contract. I also like the city of Milan.”

When quizzed about a side which has impressed him this season, Leao added: “I’ve seen a lot of games this year, I like Arsenal, I think they play very well.”

Clearly, Leao likes the way Arsenal operate under Mikel Arteta. And their exciting brand of football could convince him to join the Gunners ahead of Chelsea or Man Utd.

The only trouble regarding Leao’s Arsenal move is where he would fit in at the Emirates. Arteta’s main wingers are Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. And Arsenal are also close to signing Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk.

This leaves little room for Leao to get in the Arsenal starting eleven, unless he moves to centre-forward.

NEWCASTLE VYING WITH JUVENTUS FOR TEENAGER

Newcastle are among the list of clubs plotting a move for Real Valladolid starlet Ivan Fresneda, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The right-back, 18, spent time in the Real Madrid academy before moving to Leganes and then Valladolid. He gained promotion to the Valladolid senior squad in the summer and has gone on to become a regular player in the first team.

Fresneda has impressed during six La Liga outings thus far. And he could be set for a big move if his exciting development continues.

Romano claims ‘many European clubs’ are keeping tabs on him ahead of potential bids. Newcastle, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund are all pursuing Fresneda.

To make it even more interesting, other Prem clubs have set their sights on the Spain U19 international. However, Romano doesn’t name which ones they are.

Fresneda certainly has a big decision to make. He could opt to stay at Valladolid for a few more years to ensure he is close to the finished article when leaving.

Alternatively, the full-back may decide now is the time to make a big switch and try to make it at a larger club. This is a risk, but it could have massive rewards if it works.

Newcastle chiefs have shown they are not just here for the short-term by agreeing to sign young talents like Sven Botman and Garang Kuol. Fresneda could soon join that list, although the Magpies will have to fend off Juve and Dortmund to snare him.

Elsewhere, a pundit thinks Man Utd will be a ‘huge temptation’ for a Premier League star who recently won the World Cup.
