Bless his heart. In what was by far the most important news to break late last night, a jury found Gwyneth Paltrow not liable for a 2016 ski accident involving retired optometrist Terry Sanderson. He was suing her for $300,000, claiming she crashed into him, while she countersued for $1 and claimed he crashed into her. It was an increasingly bizarre trial that reached its low point when Sanderson seemed to suggest letting Paltrow off scot-free will lead to another Jeffrey Epstein situation. If you can believe it, the jury sided with Paltrow, awarding her the symbolic $1 to add to her monthly bone broth budget. On her way out of the courtroom, Paltrow leaned in to whisper something to Sanderson, who told reporters she said, "I wish you well," and he responded, "Thank you dear." Sanderson also admitted that suing Paltrow was "absolutely not" worth it, but at least it will surely inspire the campiest season of American Crime Story yet.

Real Madrid reckon Chelsea’s financial situation could present an opportunity to sign a Chelsea defender, while Man Utd are making contingency plans if they can’t land Harry Kane…
REAL SNIFFING AROUND BLUES DUO
There were whispers on Tuesday over the prospect of a fire sale at Chelsea this summer in an attempt to keep the Blues within Premier League FFP limits. Real Madrid hope that’s the case because they have their eye on a potential bargain.
According to AS, Real are keen to tempt Chelsea into selling Reece James. The Spaniards are looking for a new right-back, and though Juan Foyth and Joao Cancelo are under consideration, James is their preferred target.
Chelsea, though, would be loathe to lose James, who still has more than five years remaining on a recently signed contract. If Real are hoping for a discount, they’re likely to be p*ssing squarely into the wind.
Real are also said to be keen on Kai Havertz but he is viewed as being even less likely to be attainable. This particular report also states that Jude Bellingham remains Real’s primary target for the summer, which contradicts talk earlier in the week that the Borussia Dortmund star had become too expensive.
ARSENAL INCREASINGLY CONFIDENT OVER RICE
Arsenal have emerged recently as favourites to land Bellingham’s England team-mate Declan Rice and the Evening Standard has reiterated that the Gunners are now favourites to land the West Ham skipper.
For a long time, Chelsea were thought to be front-runners to sign the 24-year-old, who spent time at the club’s academy in the same side as Mason Mount. With Mount set to leave Stamford Bridge, the Blues are also lagging in the race for Rice.
Apparently, Arsenal fancy their chances due to their charge towards the title and their return to the Champions League. Mikel Arteta’s record of developing young players also has them feeling confident, even if West Ham will demand top-dollar. But the Gunners will use the valuations of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo to talk the Hammers down from their £150million valuation.
UNITED EYE KANE ALTERNATIVES
Manchester United were also linked with Rice but their priority this summer is to land a top-class centre-forward.
Ideally, they want Harry Kane. But prising Tottenham’s record goalscorer out of Daniel Levy’s grasp will be neither cheap nor easy.
So the Manchester Evening News says they are monitoring two younger strikers as possible alternatives. The first being Eintracht Frankfurt’s France international Randal Kolo Muani, while Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund is also a possible target. Hojlund, 20, is a United fan but the Denmark forward is also set to receive offers from Bayern Munich and Juventus.
Manchester United are preparing to make their move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane before the summer transfer window even opens, while eight players are at risk of being let go of by Chelsea – all in Wednesday’s transfer gossip.
MAN UTD KICKSTART HARRY KANE PURSUIT
Harry Kane is the top target on the wishlist of Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag, according to a report – and the club are ready to do business with Tottenham ahead of schedule.
Ten Hag is looking for a new centre-forward to take over from Wout Weghorst next season. Weghorst has been a stop-gap solution while on loan from Burnley in the second half of the season.
To reach the next level – which the Carabao Cup winners look capable of – finding an upgrade at centre-forward will be important. With that in mind, Kane has been named as one of the main options on their shortlist of targets.
Before committing to a new deal, he would have to consider if he will have a realistic chance of winning trophies with Tottenham, where he is the all-time leading goalscorer but is yet to get his hands on silverware.
Still in pursuit of the Premier League goalscoring record, though, it probably makes sense for Kane to stay within English football. Hence, Man Utd might well be the solution.
And according to the Daily Star, Man Utd are now ready to open talks with Tottenham about signing Kane before the season even ends.
Indeed, in the coming weeks, Man Utd could make an approach about a bid for Kane, who they think they can get for £80million.
Arnold sanctions Harry Kane bid
The club’s CEO, Richard Arnold, has been persuaded by Ten Hag to make a move for the 29-year-old. Indeed, Kane has risen to the top of the manager’s shortlist.
In years gone by, Tottenham have been tough to negotiate with when it comes to Kane. For example, in 2021, they stood firm when Manchester City were trying to take him.
Now it is Man Utd’s turn to test their resolve – and Spurs may be hearing from them sooner than they would have been expecting.
The report also suggests Chelsea could make an offer to keep Kane elsewhere in the Premier League. Further afield, there is interest from La Liga outfit Barcelona and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
But the Daily Star has also concluded that Man Utd would be Kane’s first choice in terms of his next club. Therefore, there should be plenty of further developments to keep an eye on imminently.
CHELSEA IDENTIFY EIGHT PLAYERS TO GET RID OF
Chelsea need to trim their squad after spending heavily in each of the past two transfer windows and a report has identified eight players they are willing to move on from.
After focusing heavily on signings last summer and in January, Chelsea might have to pay more attention to player sales this time around. It would serve to balance the books and reduce their squad size.
There have been several predictions recently about who could make way. According to the latest from the Evening Standard, Chelsea want to offload eight players.
It would enable them to reduce their squad size from 33 players to the usual 25. In terms of who the casualties could be, the report refers to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount and Edouard Mendy.
Aubameyang has only been at Chelsea for one season, but was a signing for previous head coach Thomas Tuchel, and not Graham Potter.
He was linked with a departure already in the winter, as was the longer serving Ziyech, whose move to Paris Saint-Germain on loan fell through.
Similarly, Gallagher was already attracting interest in January, but opted to fight for his place. His efforts might not have had the desired effect, though.
Fellow academy graduate Loftus-Cheek probably needs to move on at this stage of his career too. Meanwhile, Mount may end up elsewhere in the Premier League after a lack of progress in contract negotiations.
Kovacic – now a Manchester City target – and Mendy are also going quiet on the idea of extending their deals at Stamford Bridge. Finally, Pulisic might be able to find more prominence elsewhere.
Hence, they all seem obvious candidates to leave Chelsea, even if there would be a hint of regret at losing some – particularly Mount, perhaps.
The England international is looking into potential moves to Liverpool, Man City or Man Utd. Staying at Chelsea is not yet ruled out, but a difficult decision might have to be made.
Beyond those eight exits, Chelsea might have to make more room in their squad, since they have other players they want to bring in.
LIVERPOOL FACE LE FEE COMPETITION
Liverpool are not the only admirers of Lorient midfielder Enzo Le Fee, an update has confirmed.
It has led to links with Liverpool, Man Utd, Real Betis and Monaco. Now, an update from 90min has clarified the actual list of suitors for Le Fee.
Per the report, Liverpool are indeed admirers of the 23-year-old, as are Tottenham and Newcastle. Leicester, Fulham and Wolves have also all expressed interest in him.
There is no mention of Man Utd, Real Betis or Monaco in 90min‘s version of events yet.
Le Fee is out of contract with Lorient next summer, so the time seems right for them to cash in. Liverpool may be the ones hoping to benefit, but are by no means guaranteed to get things to pan out their way.

Release the Stalex cut! Selena Gomez's character on the Disney Channel show Wizards of Waverly Place was meant to be bisexual, but the writers couldn't make this explicit, showrunner Peter Murrieta has revealed. On the Wizards of Waverly Pod podcast, Murrieta was asked about storylines he wishes he could have explored on the show, and he knew his answer immediately. "I wished we could have played more with what was quite obvious to a lot of us, [which] was the relationship between Stevie and Alex," Murrieta said, referring to the characters played by Hayley Kiyoko and Gomez, respectively. They became friends in the third season, but Murrieta explained that although it was "pretty clear to all of us" that they were actually more than that, the writers weren't "able to" make this more obvious "in that time." Adjust your headcanon accordingly — and "Stalex" shippers, enjoy the victory lap.
