Hollywood, Celebrities, Politicians And More Are Mourning The Death Of Sean Connery - BuzzFeed News

blogsjga.blogspot.com

Sir Sean Connery, the Academy Award-winning Scottish actor who became the first person to portray the iconic role of secret agent James Bond and whose cinematic career spanned decades, has died at the age of 90.

“We are devastated by the news of the passing of Sir Sean Connery," the official Bond franchise Twitter account said in a statement sharing the news Saturday. "He was and shall always be remembered as the original James Bond... [who] revolutionized the world with his gritty and witty portrayal of the sexy and charismatic secret agent. He is undoubtedly largely responsible for the success of the film series and we shall be forever grateful to him.”

A representative for Connery's family told the BBC that the actor died in his sleep at his home in the Bahamas and that he "had been unwell for some time."

Hollywood, celebrities, politicians, and other public figures across the world mourned Connery's death with tributes on social media.

10 Most Common LA Spots For Celebrity Sightings | TheThings - TheThings

blogsjga.blogspot.com

LA is the birthplace of the film industry and it remains nearly synonymous with movie stars and fame to this day. While the locals are used to sharing a city with countless celebrities and don't even flinch when they spot one, some tourists naturally go absolutely crazy upon running into someone famous. Celebrity sightings are a major part of the ultimate Hollywood experience and tourists actively seek out spots where there is a fair chance of seeing a movie star in real life.

Related: 10 Celebs Who Look Better Without Makeup

As many visitors are only familiar with how celebrities look like on big screens and on red carpets, celebrities often slide right by wearing something casual and hiding behind huge sunglasses. Just like us, they also love to do their own shopping, go for walks, see movies and dine outside. Some have left Hollywood to work normal jobs because they didn't enjoy the celebrity lifestyle. Establishments typically make sure that celebs won't be disturbed, so it's best to not give away the real reason behind visiting the LA celebrity hot spots.

10 Chateau Marmont

The iconic Chateau Marmont on Sunset Boulevard unfortunately became a members-only hotel as of 2020. It's the go-to place for celebrities in town who don't want to be disturbed.

A lot went down in this place: this is where Led Zeppelin and Jim Morrison partied like there was no tomorrow, John Belushi died there, and countless artists used it as a set for either movies or music videos: from the audacious Death Grips' "No Love Deep Web" to Lana del Rey's "Off To The Races", Chateau Marmont lends its aesthetic to all genres of music and movies. Chateau Marmont has come to represent the quintessential Hollywood.

9 Brentwood Farmers Market

celebrities at brentwood market in LA

Those who want to see celebrities in their "natural habitat" looking just like ordinary people should head over to Brentwood Farmers Market. On Sundays, celebrities who live nearby flock to the market to get some fresh fruit and vegetables.

Tourists who sit down, order some ice-cream or coffee and patiently wait might spot a celebrity or two. But it's not going to be easy: they typically come there wearing shades and dress down as much as possible to remain anonymous. Among those who visit frequently are Jennifer Garner, Ben Affleck and Reese Witherspoon. Since it's exceptionally vegan friendly, you might also have a run-in with one of the vegan celebrities.

8 ArcLight Cinemas

West Sunset Boulevard is home to ArcLight Cinemas, a multiplex that often hosts special screenings and premieres. Those who work there spot a celebrity so often that they barely notice them anymore.

With a little bit of luck, you can catch a special event there and lurk alongside paparazzi in hopes to catch a glimpse of a movie-attending A-lister.

7 Musso & Frank Grill

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was filmed at Musso & Frank

Musso & Frank Grill is not only worth visiting for celebrity sighting reasons. This famous restaurant was also featured in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. It holds a special place in the hearts of Hollywood residents: it is the oldest eatery in the city and it's managed to maintain the charm of the old Hollywood. When it first opened, it was a spot where writers would meet.

Tarantino has cast it for personal reasons: he loves to dine there, as do Sean Connery, Jack Nicholson, and Johnny Depp.

6 The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre

improv at UCB in LA

The UCB Theatre gave us countless actors and comedians, for example Amy Poehler, Aubrey Plaza and Donald Glover. It holds a special place in their hearts, which means they sometimes go see a show as well. And, there is always a chance someone is performing who hasn't made it big just yet.

The UCB is located in Franklin Village, a great neighborhood for celebrity spotting. They are often dining in the French restaurant called La Poubelle. You might spot Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, Amanda Seyfried, Robert Pattinson, and other cool celebs.

5 Runyon Canyon

celebrities at runyon park

To live like the locals do, it's a good idea to visit Runyon Canyon, a park with various trails to hike and do some exercising. A lot of celebrities live nearby, so you can at least see their houses if you don't get lucky otherwise. Runyon Canyon also offers stunning panoramic views of the city and its location is much more convenient than the highly esteemed Griffith Park.

Related: 10 90s Celebs We Wish Were On Instagram

Celebrities who have been spotted soaking up the sun in Runyon Canyon are countless: Channing Tatum, Ashley Tisdale, Natalie Portman, Vanessa Hudgens, and many more. You have to watch really closely, though. When they're not on the red carpet or big screens, celebrities look and dress just like ordinary people, so they might pass by unnoticed.

4 Malibu Country Mart

Malibu is swarming with celebrities at all times, but the best place to look is Malibu Country Mart, a boutique shopping center. Those who own property in the vicinity just might hop in to get some shopping done or to get a bite to eat.

It's increasingly popular among paparazzi and curious tourists. No wonder: Britney Spears, Christian Bale, Paris Hilton, and Pamela Anderson have all been spotted there on several occasions. Most celebrity homes are tucked away at the beach far away from the crowds, and it is considered extremely rude to go lurking around celebrity homes in Malibu. Visiting the market is a far more respectful idea.

3 TCL Chinese Theatre

TCL Theatre AKA Grauman's Chinese Theatre is a part of the walk of the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Hollywood Blvd. It opened all the way back in 1927 when the industry first  started taking off. Since then, it has hosted numerous premieres, including Star Wars in 1977. At The Forecourt, tourists typically take photos of celebrity hand prints and footprints - especially the ones of Harry Potter and Twilight cast.

Depending on when you visit, you might catch an exciting premiere or even better: see celebrities immortalize their prints in concrete. These ceremonies might get packed, so it's best to arrive way ahead of the time.

2 The Grove

The Kardashians, the Biebers, Jessica Alba with her family, Angelina Jolie with children and countless more celebrities have been spotted doing some shopping at the famous hotspot The Grove. Anyone can go there, which means it gets really busy. When spotted, celebs often get harassed and asked for autographs. It's much better to just watch them from afar, since they enjoy their peace and quiet as much as any of us does.

Related: 10 Former A-List Celebs Who Left Showbusiness

The Grove is packed with chain restaurants and stores. There's also a fountain, called "The Spirit of Los Angeles" and animated fountains. In short, it's well worth a visit regardless of potential celebrity sightings.

1 LAX

celebrities at LAX

It would be a bit silly to spend a day lurking around LAX for no reason besides spotting celebrities, considering how much Los Angeles has to offer. However, if you're entering the city via air, it's always a smart idea to keep you eyes peeled for traveling celebrities - and they travel a lot. Some travel economy, so if you're really lucky, you might even end up sitting next to a star.

They are usually spotted pretty fast and when it happens, everyone takes their phones out and goes ballistic. There are times when they sneak past security without anyone batting an eye. Local people know better than to make a fuss out of it: it's common to see A-listers on the daily in LA.

Celebrities pay tribute to Sean Connery after James Bond actor's death at 90: 'A real screen legend' - Fox News

blogsjga.blogspot.com

Celebrities are paying tribute to Sean Connery after the legendary actor's death on Saturday.

The acclaimed Scottish actor, who skyrocketed to fame for his iconic role as James Bond in seven of the franchise's movies, died overnight in his sleep, his family confirmed to Fox News in a statement via his rep. He was 90.

"He died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family," Connery's rep told Fox News on behalf of his wife, Micheline Roquebrune, and his two sons, Jason and Stephane.

His friends in Hollywood quickly reacted to the news, reflecting on the legacy he's left behind.

SEAN CONNERY, SCOTTISH ACTOR WHO PLAYED JAMES BOND IN 7 MOVIES, DEAD AT 90

Actor Sam Neill, one of Connery's co-stars in the 1990 movie, "The Hunt for Red October," remembered him on Twitter.

"Every day on set with #SeanConnery was an object lesson in how to act on screen. But all that charisma and power- that was utterly unique to Sean," Neill wrote. "RIP that great man , that great actor ."

Hugh Jackman called Connery a "legend."

"I grew up idolizing #SeanConnery. A legend on screen, and off. Rest In Peace," Jackman, 52, tweeted.

Salma Hayek took to her Instagram early Saturday to pay tribute.

"It saddens me that today the legendary Sean Connery passed away. At least he lived to be 90. My heart goes out to his close ones. May he rest in peace 🙏🏻," she captioned a black-and-white photo of the actor smiling.

Bond movie producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli released a statement Saturday via the James Bond official Twitter account.

"We are devastated by the news of the passing of Sir Sean Connery. He was and shall always be remembered as the original James Bond whose indelible entrance into cinema history began when he announced those unforgettable words — 'The name’s Bond ... James Bond' — he revolutionised the world with his gritty and witty portrayal of the sexy and charismatic secret agent," said the producers. "He is undoubtedly largely responsible for the success of the film series and we shall be forever grateful to him.”

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon also reacted to the news in a lengthy Twitter thread, writing that the nation is in mourning of its "best loved sons."

SEAN CONNERY FLED HURRICANE DORIAN, SAYS HE'S 'LUCKY' HIS BAHAMAS MANSION ESCAPED DAMAGE

"Sean was born into a working class Edinburgh family and through talent & sheer hard work, became an international film icon and one of the world's most accomplished actors," Sturgeon's thread begins.

She added: "Sean will be remembered best as James Bond - the classic 007 - but his roles were many & varied. He was a global legend but, first and foremost, a patriotic and proud Scot - his towering presence at the opening of @ScotParl in 1999 showed his love for the country of his birth. Sean was a lifelong advocate of an independent Scotland and those of us who share that belief owe him a great debt of gratitude.

"It was a privilege to have known Sean. When I last spoke to him it was clear even then that his health was failing - but the voice, the spirit and the passion that we all loved so well were still there. I will miss him. Scotland will miss him. The world will miss him," she said, concluding with condolences to his wife, Micheline Roquebrune and his two sons.

British filmmakker Edgar Wright spoke of Connery's "charisma" in a series of tweets.

"It says something for the extraordinary charisma of this Edinburgh lad to have created the most iconic character in film & then, rather than be typecast by it, become equally famous for just being Sean Connery. A real screen legend; oft imitated (by all!) but never equalled," he wrote.

BATTLE OF THE BONDS: SEAN CONNERY'S TUMULTUOUS HISTORY WITH BOND FRANCHISE RECOUNTED IN 'THE UNTOLD STORY OF 007'

He also shared that his two favorite portrayals as James Bond were "From Russia with Love" and "Goldfinger." As for his other legendary movies, Wright said he "dearly" loved "Hell Drivers," of which he had a supporting role, "The Frightened City," Alfred Hitchcock's "Marnie," and Sidney Lumet's British-American war drama "The Hill," among several others.

"From charming immortal Ramirez to Henry Jones Sr, from being the rock in the centre of the best Michael Bay film to his incredible Oscar winning turn as Malone in The Untouchables, Sean Connery had a hell of a run. Have a vodka martini & a dram of whiskey for him tonight," Wright concluded.

Connery was an international star, having earned an Academy Award, multiple Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille and Henrietta Awards, as well as two British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) awards.

One of his most memorable roles was as the first actor to tackle the character of James Bond on the silver screen, beginning with 1962's "Dr. No." His other notable films include "The Untouchables," "The Rock" and "Murder on the Orient Express."

CARLY SIMON REVEALS SEAN CONNERY ASKED FOR MÉNAGE-À-TROIS WITH HER SISTER

After "Dr. No," Connery appeared in six more Bond films: "From Russia with Love," "Goldfinger," "Thunderball," "You Only Live Twice," "Diamonds are Forever" and "Never Say Never Again."

Connery's other films included "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," "The Hunt for Red October," "The Wind and the Lion," "The Man Who Would Be King" and "Finding Forrester."

It was his role in Brian de Palma's "The Untouchables" in 1987 that earned him a supporting actor Oscar.

In 1999, Connery was chosen as the Sexiest Man of the Century in a survey conducted by New Woman magazine, and one year later, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.

Connery leaves behind his wife, and his sons, Jason and Stephane Connery.

He was known to shun the Hollywood lifestyle, preferring a quiet life away from the spotlight with Roquebrune. The pair wed in 1975. Connery was married to Diane Cilento for 11 years. The pair wed in 1962 and divorced in 1973 amid allegations of his infidelity and being violent towards her.

Fox News' Nate Day contributed to this report.

All Hallows’ Eve is still one day away, but that hasn’t stopped the stars from getting a scary start on their Halloween-from-home costumes this year.

A number of celebrities — including Kim Kardashian, Justina Machado, Nelly, Rosalía, Megan Thee Stallion, Vanessa Hudgens — have already debuted spellbinding looks.

From “Schitt’s Creek” to “Tiger King,” here’s a spooky sampling of some of the best so far.

17. Paris Hilton as all the things

Hilton gets an A for effort for this homemade montage of herself trying on a variety of vague Halloween-store looks, including a schoolgirl, a flapper and a Playboy bunny.

16. Charli XCX as a red latex monster?

Not sure exactly what the “Boom Clap” hitmaker is supposed to be here, but we’re loving the gooey monster glove and matching purple eye shadow nonetheless!

15. Bella Thorne as Little Red Riding Hood

The Disney Channel alum already had her signature ginger locks to complete this scarlet fairy-tale look. Extra points for the bottle of red wine in the back!

14. Kylie Jenner as the red Power Ranger

Go, go, Kylie Jenner! The reality-TV star and beauty mogul united with some powerful friends for this impressive “Power Rangers” ensemble. And, of course, she was the red one.

13. Rosalía as Leeloo from “The Fifth Element”

The “Con Altura” artist’s cosplay inspired by Milla Jovovich’s fan-favorite character from 1997’s “The Fifth Element” is out of this world!

12. Kandi Burruss as a cheetah

This spot-on costume from the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star is the cat’s pajamas! Burruss has officially stepped out of the house and into the wild.

11. Vanessa Hudgens as a black widow

Per usual, the “High School Musical” alum has already debuted multiple eerie ensembles this Halloweek, including a convincing Catwoman and a Hitchcockian bird. But it’s this spidery set — enormous web included — that stands out among the rest.

10. Megan Thee Stallion as Yumeko from “Kakegurui”

The “Don’t Stop” artist’s gorgeous Yumeko cosplay, shared Thursday on Instagram, may or may not be an official Halloween costume. Either way, this anime-inspired makeup — done by Meg herself — is stunning and deserving of a mention.

9. Carrie Ann Inaba as Pennywise the Clown

Tens across the board for this ghoulish getup from longtime “Dancing With the Stars” judge Inaba.

8. Kim Kardashian and co. as the ‘Tiger King’ squad

The reality TV star and her pal Jonathan “Foodgod” Cheban reign supreme as “Tiger King” stars Carole Baskin and Joe Exotic — plus four adorable tiger cubs.

7. Halsey as the Corpse Bride

Tim Burton would be proud of this haunting ensemble inspired by the director’s 2005 stop-motion musical.

6. Justina Machado as Carrie

This “Dancing With the Stars” homage to Stephen King, courtesy of “One Day at a Time” actress Machado, is bloody brilliant.

5. Nelly as Freddy Krueger from “A Nightmare on Elm Street”

Another fright from the Halloween-themed episode of “Dancing With the Stars,” this creepy “Nightmare on Elm Street” cosplay from rapper Nelly is truly the stuff of, well, nightmares.

4. Rico Nasty as Joker

Somebody light the Bat signal — this Gotham-style getup from rapper Rico Nasty is no joke.

3. Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest as Moira and David from “Schitt’s Creek”

This love letter to Catherine O’Hara and Dan Levy’s Emmy-winning “Schitt’s Creek” performances, courtesy of the “Live With Kelly and Ryan” cohosts, got the stamp of approval from Levy himself, who tweeted, “I’ve never looked better.” Enough said.

2. Mindy Kaling as Devi from “Never Have I Ever”

Never have I ever loved a Halloween costume more than Kaling’s perfect take on Maitreyi Ramakrishnan’s spunky teen protagonist from her hit Netflix comedy.

1. Saweetie as Destiny’s Child

We cannot handle this bootylicious Halloween serve from “Tap In” hitmaker Saweetie, who somehow filmed an entire mini music video as all three members of Destiny’s Child.
