Celebrities bring life to ‘James and the Giant Peach’: 5 feel-good items to make you smile - cleveland.com

The unique imagination of author Roald Dahl has resulted in several classic children’s books, his most famous likely being “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”

Not far behind would be “James and the Giant Peach.” And to our delight, New Zealand filmmaker and actor Taika Waititi is holding readings of the book on the Dahl YouTube channel ... and he’s bringing in several giant celebrities to help.

The latest installment includes actor and “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds. They’re well into the book in this episode, so if you’d like to start at the beginning, go to the main channel. Along the way, you’ll get readings from Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Olivia Wilde, Sarah Paulson, Chris Hemsworth and several other stars. The readings are raising money for Partners In Health.

For those of us really old enough to remember, Monday marked the 43rd anniversary of the release of the first “Star Wars” film in 1977. It went on to have a bit of success. And it all started with this epic opening scene and music from John Williams.

This dog figures out how to keep himself entertained, digging a small trench and then using it to play fetch by himself.

Meanwhile, on the feline side, a cat figures out how to get a water dispenser to work, but can’t work out how to get in position to actually get a drink.

A small kitten makes the long climb up a pants leg to see what’s happening on the kitchen counter.
