Gossip Girl: 5 Ways Blair Changed (& 5 Ways She’ll Always Be The Same) - Screen Rant

One of the main characters on Gossip Girl was Blair Waldorf. She was a preppy Queen B, and she loved a good scheme and a sassy comeback. She was also into fashion, glam events, and the love of her life, Chuck Bass.

Over the years, Blair evolved: although she still loved a good scheme, she transformed into a mature young woman and even married the love of her life. Here are the many ways she grew, and the ways she remained the same.

10 Changed: Wasn’t Not As Mean & Nasty

Blair was not always the nicest person, but throughout the series, she got to a place where she was not as mean and nasty. Sure, she could still hit below the belt, even when she got into fights with her besties, since she was gifted in the area of witty retorts.

But after she graduated from high school and started finding her place in the real world, she was not as obsessed with being the most popular girl, meaning she was not regularly belittling her peers.

9 Same: Loved A Snarky Comeback & Scheming

But, yes, she loved a comeback, and she was known for her spunky and snarky dialogue. Furthermore, many of her adventures (whether in climbing to/staying on top or taking down an enemy) involved scheming, and she and Chuck realized they needed to cut back on all of that… but that doesn’t mean her enjoyment for these things went away!

8 Changed: Didn’t Dress In Such A Preppy Way All The Time

Something else that changed in the year or so after Blair got out of high school was that she did not dress 100 percent preppy all the time. For one, she didn’t have to wear a school uniform anymore. Even outside of that look, though, she was seen in a lot of plaid, blazers, and headbands in early seasons. And while these elements were still part of her wardrobe, she started to be seen in a variety of other garments, as well.

Since the headband was her signature look, it was seen pretty often. Even on her wedding day, she opted for a tiara-like accessory that sparkled and went well with her blue gown. It was the perfect thing for this character!

6 Changed: Found Her Passion In Life

Blair sat atop the Met steps. She got good grades. She threw the best parties. But when everyone started studying their interests and working in certain industries, she felt a bit lost.

It made sense that she ended up where she did, though; she was interested in fashion, she was super stylish, and her mother was a designer… so she followed in her footsteps.

5 Same: Was Still Prone To Outbursts & Breakdowns

Life is not perfect, though, and neither are people. Even when Blair got Chuck, figured out her work situation, and wasn’t fighting with her best friend, she could still break down or have a dramatic outburst.

And while the flash-forward that showed her as a mother was brief, one could probably easily imagine her getting super stressed then, too, and having to unwind and calm down with more shopping, an adult beverage or a lavish vacation.

4 Changed: Found Out Who Her Real Friends Were

Something else that was seen in the early seasons of Gossip Girl would be Blair’s minions; she was always flanked by pretty and popular girls who wanted to be just like her.

Just as she outgrew her desire to have the crown and be loved by all, she also outgrew these fake friends. She realized, more than ever, how lucky she was to have a real, loving, core group of pals… pals who would do literally anything for one another.

3 Same: Dropped Everything To Help Them

Even though Blair could be rude and selfish at times, she would drop anything to help Serena, Chuck, Nate, and even Dan. These characters were like family, and as Blair herself said, they did not judge each other, no matter what.

2 Changed: Snagged The Love Of Her Life

In the beginning, Blair thought she was going to marry Nate, as they seemed like the perfect pair of sweethearts. Later on, she met a prince and thought she was getting her real-life fairy tale. In the end, though, she finally got on the same page as Chuck, and he popped the question, which led to them spending forever together!

1 Same: Loved Him Fully From The Start & Through It All

The back of the limo, the ups and downs with Chuck’s family, the business struggles these two endured, waiting to hear three words, eight letters… This couple certainly hit some bumps in the road, but from the start and through it all, Blair loved Chuck fully, and that was something that never changed.
