Gossip Girl: 5 Ways Chuck Changed (& 5 Ways He’ll Always Be The Same) - Screen Rant

One of the main characters on Gossip Girl was Chuck Bass. He was a dapper young man with a wild side, he came from an affluent family that had its fair share of drama, and he was in love with another main character, Blair, who became his wife.

Of course, as the story evolved, so did Chuck; like any human, he grew, matured and transformed, while still staying true to his real self. That being said, the list down below goes over the five biggest ways he changed on the show and the five main ways that he will always be the same, too.

9 Changed: Traded Scarves For Bow Ties

Chuck was a snazzy and preppy dresser, and when the show started, the main group was in high school at a private school. Chuck, in particular, loved to throw on a designer scarf with his school uniform, but then he graduated, and he started wearing suits all the time.

So his signature accessory changed from a scarf to a bow tie!

No matter what Chuck was wearing, though, he looked very put together and polished. Part of that was his world, as there were always business meetings, charity functions, school dances, and parties to attend.

Even when he played basketball that one time, however, he stood out in his coordinated ensemble and his high-quality clothing items.

8 Changed: Became A Successful Businessman

Chuck was a party boy in high school, and he had the money and resources to supply everyone with the best time, vacation in exotic places, and get the ladies. His father was never proud of this behavior and kept waiting for him to grow up.

Eventually, Chuck found his passion, started his own ventures, and became a successful businessman.

7 Same: Shared Power With Blair

As mentioned, Chuck ended up with Blair, but they had some challenges before tying the knot. Part of their story was that they both had goals and dreams they wanted and needed to chase and accomplish, and they knew these areas should be taken care of before they got serious.

So they went off on their own before coming together as a true power couple!

6 Changed: Became Way Less Of A Creep

At the beginning of the series, Chuck was shown forcing himself on a couple of different characters. In short, he was sleazy.

This was probably the biggest way he changed, as he tossed that life aside, really grew up, found himself, and became a respected and kind man.

5 Same: Was Still Chuck Bass

Still… He was Chuck Bass. That was a famous line of his for a reason! It meant something, as there was no one like him. And even after he got out of high school, started brands and got married, he still had this wild streak to him (which did make him quite exciting); he just knew how to control it and reign in it.

4 Changed: Married The Love Of His Life

When the story started, fans probably never imagined Chuck and Blair ending up together. After that spicy scene in the back of a limo, though, they had it bad for each other. They had a strong connection, and despite distance, fights, and other relationships, they knew they were destined to live happily ever after!

3 Same: Found A New Family

As mentioned, Chuck did not have the best familial life: He thought his mother was dead, his father never approved of him, his uncle lied to him, he thought he found his mother, he lost his father… The list went on and on.

However, Chuck had a real family, from the start/that grew in strength over time: He had his best friends (Blair, Nate, Serena and even Dan), and he had the van der Woodsens (as Lily took him in on his own, meaning he gained Eric as a family member, too).

2 Changed: Got Nicer Over Time

Chuck Bass was not always nice nor sweet, and it took quite some time before a sensitive and caring side was even shown from him. After it came out, though, it was clear that his rough exterior was not the whole story, and part of growing up was getting to be more of a decent and caring human being! A great example is that he became pals with Dan Humphrey, a lonely boy and outsider from Brooklyn.

1 Same: Still Enjoyed A Sarcastic Comeback & Scheming

One more way he stayed the same, though, was that he enjoyed a sarcastic comeback (thrown at anyone) and a dramatic scheme (led by Blair, of course). That was true from the start, and it did not really change… He just, as mentioned, reigned it back a bit. Besides, these traits helped make this character who he was and helped make this couple who they were, as well.
