But what would the show have looked like in another city? What if it took place in...LA?
Meet Chad Bass. He and his friends live in Calabasas, California, where they attend an unreasonably nice private school.

He has a super toxic on-and-off relationship with the school queen bee, Blair. Her mom is a big Hollywood movie star, and all the girls are SUPER jealous of her. Be careful not to cross her!

Blair and her BFF Serena like to spend their weekends clubbing in Hollywood with friends. They're in high school, but they never get carded. It's totally fine, don't question it!

And don't forget the Humphreys! They live in this very nice beach house, but we're going to convince you they're poor.

They spend most of their time doing normal teenage things, like crashing celeb parties in the Valley, spending unlimited money shopping on Rodeo Drive, and hooking up at Griffith Park. As for summers, forget the Hamptons — Tahoe is the place to be!

They drive everywhere, but never park. Anywhere worth going has valet, duh!
BUT it's not all glamour and glitz! They're being targeted by an anonymous blogger named Tattle Girl, who's determined to share their secrets and scandals with the world.

When the crew's not busy partying or worrying about Tattle Girl, they're totally focused on getting into the best universities. They're all dying to go to Stanford, but most of them will end up settling for UCLA — which they'll convince you anybody can get into. Nobody will finish college, though.

If our girls are feeling a bit overwhelmed, they can just hop on a plane at LAX and fly to Europe on a whim! If they're gonna be sad, they might as well be sad in Paris.
