Letter: Celebrities should speak out - Salt Lake Tribune

blogsjga.blogspot.com

I have read numerous messages on social media lately questioning celebrities who speak out on politics.

It has occurred to me that the average person has been trying for so many years to make a change in the way African Americans are treated, to no avail. But when celebrities, basketball players, baseball players, soccer players take a stand, everyone takes notice.

It’s too bad that it is taking these well-known individuals to make the rest of us wake up and say “enough is enough.” There need to be changes.

So I applaud all these “celebrities” for helping the rest of us wake up, and they need to know that they are heard and their decision is respected.
