While some of Trump's most outspoken Hollywood critics remained mum on social media following the president's diagnosis, others offered sober sentiments.
"Knives Out" actress Jamie Lee Curtis advised Trump's political opponents that it was no time to gloat:
Democrats. Do not stoop to his level. Do not be happy about anyone getting this virus that has killed 2,000,000 people world wide. Just wish then well then VOTE not GLOAT them out of office.

Former "Charmed" star Alyssa Milano, a frequent Trump critic who said she was hospitalized earlier this year for complications due to COVID-19, offered sympathy:
As someone who has had #COVID19 and still suffers from post-covid syndrome, I can honestly say with all that I am that I wouldn’t wish this virus on my worst enemy.
Please wear a mask.

"Frozen" actor Josh Gad said while he hoped for Trump's recovery, he holds "extreme resentment" toward the president's handling of the virus, which has killed more than 207,000 people in the United States, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
I do hope Trump and his wife recover. I also hold extreme resentment and anger to a man who sat idly by as all of us, including myself, lost friends and loved ones as he insisted 1) it was a hoax 2) it would magically disappear and 3) that people who wore masks were fools.

Rosie O'Donnell and Ice-T suggested that it was only a matter of time before Trump, whose campaign has held large indoor and outdoor rallies during the pandemic, tested positive:
i have been wondering y he doesnt get covid - with all his hitler like mask free gatherings - whoop dare it is #AmericaOrTrump #BidenHarris2020 #CoronaVirus #CountryOverParty

Pro-Trump performers James Woods and Antonio Sabato Jr. gave their own encouraging words:
You will destroy this no problem! https://t.co/HI9T2lyCsC

In my 73 years on this earth I have never witnessed a man and his family be put to the test like this President and First Lady have been. God challenges those who are needed most. While the Left is no doubt sniggering with glee, we patriots pray for our @POTUS and our @FLOTUS. pic.twitter.com/I8ahcFjYHs

Other high-profile personalities expressed hope of a silver lining: that Trump's diagnosis would lead to greater awareness about wearing masks to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
I really hope @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS and all their family members and teams will be ok and without symptoms after their positive Covid-19 testing. Now let’s start taking mask seriously, without mocking people that wear them. And let’s roll a plan to beat the virus @JoeBiden

For someone who wasn’t taking the necessary precautions with masks and social distancing, it wasn’t a question of whether, it was a question of when.
America, please learn from the president’s experience. Please wear masks, and please maintain physical distances in public.

If anything positive can come him testing positive, it would be his followers reevaluating their opinions. If they will now accept a lockdown, social distancing & mandatory mask-wearing, we could crush the virus like we should have from the start. #ButIAlsoBelieveInTheToothFairy https://t.co/uh0Y5FF4A7

The President’s arrogant, cynical, irresponsible denial of the deadly disease he now has is the most devastating self own in human history.
