THE founder of Hillsong Church - who fired Justin Bieber's pastor Carl Lentz for cheating on his wife - addressed worshippers on Saturday about "speculation and gossip" surrounding the scandal, The Sun can reveal.
Global lead pastor Brian Houston, who made a statement last week saying they had dropped Lentz for "moral failures," spoke to East Coast followers via an online streaming session.
He called this time a "season of transition" and begged followers of the celeb-loved megachurch to "stay close to Jesus."
Justin Bieber's pastor took to Instagram to admit he was unfaithful to his wife Laura, while former Hillsong leaders told The Sun they tried to alert pastors "years ago" about his infidelity.
New York beauty Ranin, 34, also revealed all about their alleged five month affair which came to a dramatic end after his wife discovered photographs on his work computer.
Brian Houston told churchgoers on Saturday: "I know that God is faithful, that he's true to his word.
"This is a season of transition. It's a time when I'm so grateful for the team we have there, we've got such strong, committed and deeply loyal people who are part of the team.
"And I must say that not only [are] our key leaders in New York supportive of the decisions that have been made, but they have in fact been part of the process.
"And in a season of transition they're looking over the things and making sure that all is in place, that people are pointed forward.
"It's always a time when there is speculation, rumor and gossip when change is made, and especially when radical change is made. But I just want to encourage you ... stay close to Jesus, keep him your focus.
"And let's decide we're gonna continue with our love for this great church and lean in. And you watch, there's great days ahead, there's good things coming.
"Let's be part of it together, be blessed, and we will definitely continue to stay in touch when it comes to the long term leadership of our wonderful church at Hillsong, East Coast."
Brian previously sent a letter to worshippers explaining they had fired Lentz, 42, saying that his termination had followed discussions about “leadership issues and breaches of trust, plus a recent revelation of moral failures.”
He took to Instagram to admit he had cheated, sharing a photograph of him with his wife and their three children.
Lentz told followers in a lengthly statement: "I was unfaithful in my marriage, the most important relationship in my life and held accountable for that.
He added: "This failure is on me, and me alone and I take full responsibility for my actions."
The Sun exclusively revealed that Lentz was “in love” with brunette beauty Ranin, a 34-year-old designer, who claims they started their affair after meeting in May at Domino Park in Brooklyn.
She alleged Lentz initially refused to give her his last name because he did not want to be “Googled” and told her he wanted her to “get to know him in person.”
Ranin, who wants to keep her surname private, also claimed he told her he was a sports agent, and she only found out the truth about his church fame after paying to flip his phone number online.
She told The Sun: “I wasn’t there for just sex, we both found comfort and a deep, special connection with each other. I am very hurt because we both feel the same way about each other.
“He loves me and I love him. It was a love relationship that wasn’t planned. It wasn’t just a fling or just a sexual relationship.
“He didn’t tell me that he was married at first, he doesn’t wear a ring. A few dates in, I had a feeling something was up so I asked him if he was married.
“And he admitted that yes, he had been for 17 years and has three kids."
Though his secret was out, they allegedly continued dating and the Egyptian and Palestinian beauty admitted they began having sex early on into the affair, and would hang out “a few times a week” for several months.
She says Laura finally found out about their affair after discovering "naughty photos" - which were connected to his work computer at the church office while several other co-workers were also present.
But despite claiming "my life is over" and being concerned about losing his job and his wife not forgiving him, she alleges they were intimate once again during an emotional goodbye.
His wife Laura is a also a lead pastor at Hillsong East Coast Church.
The couple met at Hillsong College, a school affiliated with the international organization, and have three children, Ava, Charlie and Roman.
