HBO Max has officially resumed filming the reboot of Gossip Girl after announcing the delay of production back in May due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Spotted last week in New York City were the show’s leads, Whitney Peak and Eli Brown, in full costume stranded in the rain in front of a building.
As seen in the paparazzi photo above, Peak wore a silver bodycon mini dress and black heels. As for her co-star, Brown sported a beige corduroy jacket over an olive green turtle neck paired with blue jeans. During breaks, both actors wore COVID-19 face masks for the safety of everyone on set.
Narrated by none other than Kristen Bell, the series will take place “eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl,” according to a synopsis acquired by Harper’s Bazaar. “The prestige series will address just how much social media – and the landscape of New York itself – has changed in the intervening years.”
HBO’s Gossip Girl is expected to premiere next year, so stay tuned while we wait for further updates. In the meantime, here are five things you need to know about the reboot.
