And now it looks like it will be happy holidays, really! For all the Gossip Girl lovers at least and I know because I am one. Netflix’s new historical romance is here and it’s everything you’ve been waiting for since the raspy ‘XoXo’. That’s right, Bridgerton is scintillating, scandalous and some more. In fact, it does seem like the love child of Blake Lively’s show and Jane Austen’s Pride And Prejudice thanks to the period angle that dates back to times when there were no digital blogs. Just a certain lady Lady Whistledown who apparently knows it all. And she is here to unveil secrets as it is officially suiting season. Yes, where a homely girl finds a suitor after being debuted in a classy but sexist ball and then commits herself to life of boredom. However, Daphne Bridgerton played by Phoebe Dynevor is anything but all of the above-mentioned.
She has a mind of her own and she like to speak it as well. But it isn’t easy to navigate through the lanes of Regency London high society alone. So, she finds herself an arrangement in the form of a handsome duke and something tells us it is going to be more than just that. But it will be interesting to see them reach other. In between, one is exposed to the opulent show that the rich and aristocrats like to put up and it’s no less than a visual treat with fireworks even.
What makes it even more interesting is that it is presented and produced by Shonda Rhime’s Shondaland. She is the maker of hit shows including Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder and if the titles tell us anything, Bridgerton is going to be the binge fix we need.
The show also features Regé-Jean Page, Adjoa Andoh, Ruby Barker, Jonathan Bailey and Golda Rosheuvel. The period drama has been executive produced by Van Dusen and Shondaland’s Rhimes and Betsy Beers. And has been directed by Julie Ann Robinson, Sheree Folkson, Tom Verica and Alrick Riley.
Bridgerton will start streaming On Netflix from December 25.
