Grab your popcorn and get ready for some juicy TV. Lifetime is releasing not one, but two biopics this month that are sure to have social media in a frenzy. First up is “Salt-N-Pepa,”which is set to delve into the behind-the-scenes lives of the history-making female rap group.
The film follows Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton, the original first ladies of hip hop, as they break down barriers, lose their edges, and become the first platinum-selling hip hop group, and first female group to win a Grammy in a male-dominated industry.
They rose to fame in the late ’80s and ’90s (before the prying eyes of social media), so expect to get all sorts of juicy reveals sanctioned by the ladies, themselves.
And, if that wasn’t enough, television host Wendy Williams is following up the next week with her own “Wendy Williams: The Movie.” Williams is known for not just serving up hot topics, but also being the main course with her battles with addiction, her recent divorce from her cheating husband, and her general gossip messiness. She promises to dish up even more dirt and scandal.
Of course, like with most Lifetime movies, these films could be major wins or epic flops. Either way, with both Salt-N-Pepa and Williams heavily involved in their story productions, there are bound to be revelations that are a hot and juicy mess.
“Salt-N-Pepa” airs January 23 and “Wendy Williams: The Movie” on January 30 on Lifetime. Check your local listings for channels and showtimes.
