The daily gossip: Jon Stewart joined Twitter to rant about Wall Street, popcorn has nothing on the Snyder Cut meal box, and more - Yahoo News

Jon Stewart joined Twitter, seemingly just so he could weigh in on the GameStop saga — and call out "bullsh--t." The former host of The Daily Show made a Twitter account and commented on the ongoing drama on Wall Street, as Reddit users rally behind GameStop and other heavily shorted stocks to the chagrin of hedge funds. The effort led the app Robinhood on Thursday to controversially restrict trading on numerous stocks. "This is bulls--t," Stewart declared. "The Redditors aren't cheating, they're joining a party Wall Street insiders have been enjoying for years … We've learned nothing from 2008." Tweeting evidently isn't a habit Stewart plans to take up too regularly, though; he added in a follow-up, "I promise to only use this app in a sporadic and ineffective manner." [CNN, The Week]

Last May, Warner Bros. announced that the long-sought director's cut of Zack Snyder's Justice League would finally see the light of day, thereby confirming that tweeting incessantly at companies actually works. On Friday, HBO set the release date for March 18th, and additionally announced the existence of a $130 Snyder Cut meal box to go along with it. The "first-of-its-kind, immersive, at-home dining experience" comes packaged like the Mother Box and includes themed food like an "Ocean Trench" appetizer of cod and chips for Aquaman, and a "Big Belly Burger" for the Flash. Warner Bros. promised "further boxed dining experiences" for later 2021 releases, including, hopefully, piragua for In the Heights, a sub from the Terminal A Jersey Mike's for The Many Saints of Newark, and gummy sandworms for Dune. Hunter Schafer is keeping it old school … by connecting her headphones to her phone with a wire. The 21-year-old Euphoria actress opted for the prehistoric technology "three times this week," Just Jared reports, despite the fact that you can't even plug regular headphones into an iPhone anymore without a special adapter. Schafer would have been around 16 when wired headphones started to be phased out, so perhaps she's just cashing in on the vintage aesthetic? Maybe she'll get a landline and an AOL email address next. It is positively spooky how much George Clooney and Amal Clooney like each other. The actor, 59, revealed that he's spent lockdown writing letters to Amal, despite the couple occupying the same six-bedroom mansion. "Even in lockdown, I'll write a letter and slip it on her desk, or she'll write a letter and leave it under the pillow," Clooney told AARP. "I'm a big believer in letters." Clooney further explained his preference for analogue correspondence by saying, "If it were a text, it would feel different. Maybe that's a generational thing, and maybe it won’t be that way 20 years from now, but for me, somebody sat down and wrote it." Can't wait to read The Collected Letters of George and Amal Clooney one day! [Just Jared, AARP]

Celebrities paid emotional tribute to award-winning actress Cicely Tyson after the news broke that she died Thursday at the age of 96. "Her life so fully lived is a testimony to Greatness," reflected Oprah Winfrey, while producer Shonda Rhimes shared a photo of herself with Tyson on Instagram, and wrote, "She was an extraordinary person. And this is an extraordinary loss." Zendaya wrote, "this one hurts," and actress Viola Davis added in an address to Tyson that "You made me feel loved and seen and valued in a world where there is still a cloak of invisibility for us dark chocolate girls. You gave me permission to dream." Read more about Tyson's extraordinary life here. [NBC News, The Week]
