Transfer news: Erling Haaland to Chelsea, West Ham bid - football gossip - Squawka

Chelsea have this morning been linked with a sensational swoop for Borussia Dortmund frontman Erling Haaland.

Meanwhile, David Moyes is desperate to add more firepower to his West Ham front line after the sale of Sebastien Haller to Ajax earlier this month.

The Hammers are reportedly monitoring Montpellier striker Gaetan Laborde as Moyes scrambles to get someone in before the February 2 deadline.

Mesut Ozil has arrived in Turkey ahead of a move to Fenerbahce amid reports he is set to take a significant pay cut to join the Super Lig side.

Chelsea are reportedly preparing to make a big push to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The Athletic claims the Blues are willing to break their club-record transfer to bring in Haaland. The report says the 20-year-old’s release clause is worth £67million but will not become active until the end of next season, meaning Chelsea would have to part with significantly more to land the Norway international at the end of this season in a bid to beat the competition.

The Blues are keen to sign a new centre-forward, with Olivier Giroud expected to depart at the end of the season, when his contract expires. It is thought Timo Werner, who arrived for a fee north of £50million in the summer, was brought in to complement an out-and-out frontman, rather than spearhead the attack himself.

Montpellier striker Gaetan Laborde is the latest name to be linked with West Ham as David Moyes steps up his striker search.

The Hammers are reportedly considering a £16million deal for the 26-year-old and his Ligue 1 club are expected to be open to offers.

Moyes said on Saturday: “We’ve already made big enquiries and offers for players with clubs. They’ve obviously not been accepted otherwise I would have someone.”

Laborde has scored six goals and laid on a further six assists so far this season.

AC Milan ‘unlikely to buy Tomori’

AC Milan are unlikely to take up the option sign Fikayo Tomori permanently from Chelsea in the summer, according to Goal.

The Serie A club are poised to sign Tomori on loan for the remainder of the campaign, and have agreed a £25m option to buy as part of the transfer.

However, Goal’s Chelsea man Nizaar Kinsella said: “A bit of a risk to include an option to buy but it isn’t likely that Milan will use it.”

Tomori came through the youth system at Chelsea but has only made 27 appearances for the senior side since his debut in 2016. He has previously had loan spells with Brighton, Hull and Derby.

PSG pushing for Dele Alli

Dele Alli wants to leave Tottenham, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Spurs star was left out of the matchday squad to face Sheffield United on Sunday as Jose Mourinho’s side secured a morale-boosting 3-1 win at Bramall Lane.

Alli is still pushing to reunite with former boss Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain. The clubs are in negotiations over a possible loan deal but Spurs “are not convinced” as PSG push for a breakthrough in talks.

Ozil contract revealed

Mesut Ozil will reportedly earn just over £65,000-a-week at Fenerbahce.

The 32-year-old’s basic salary represents a significant reduction on the terms he agreed at Arsenal in 2018, but the Mail claims the midfielder will receive a £4.5million bonus up front simply for joining the Super Lig club.

There are also said to be several other bonus clauses in Ozil’s deal. The report claims he will receive £445,000 if Fenerbahce win the Turkish title, and a further £225,000 if they qualify for the Champions League.

Messi ‘wants to stay at Barcelona’

Messi is “happy” at Barcelona and wants to stay at the club beyond the summer, according to presidential candidate Joan Laporta.

Messi will be free to leave the Liga giants on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the campaign and Manchester City are among those in the race to sign the 33-year-old.

But Laporta, who is favourite to replace Josep Maria Bartomeu as Barca president in March’s elections, has claimed Messi “will do everything in his power to stay” at the Camp Nou.

“Messi is now totally focused on catching Atletico Madrid in La Liga and playing the Paris Saint-Germain tie in the Champions League,” Laporta said, according to Sport in Spain.

“I see him more and more happy, he is enjoying it. I know that he wants to stay and I know that he will do everything in his power to stay as long as the club can offer him an offer that suits him.”
