It's normal to have a side hobby collecting stamps, coins, or train tickets, but for the rich and famous, this doesn't quite cut it.
It turns out many Hollywood mansions are treasure troves of unique memorabilia, containing anything from coat hangers to dead animals.
Below, are 10 of the strangest celebrity collections.
1. Angelina Jolie
Actor, director, humanitarian, Angelina Jolie has many interests. the Tomb Raider star is less famed, however, for her penchant for antique knives.
After receiving her first set of daggers at around 11 years old, Jolie would attend Renaissance knife fairs with her mother. Years later, her collection has grown into an impressive array of butterfly knives, folding knives, and balisongs. Some of the top blades in the collection are reported to cost more than $24,000 each.
2. Amanda Seyfried
A chick named Linda, a Zebra named Kevin Sparkle, and an owl named Beatrice, are all animals among Amanda Seyfriend's unusual taxidermy collection.
The Mamma Mia! star's obsession with dead animals began in the late 2000s after she paid a visit to Deyrolle, a famous taxidermy store in Paris. As an animal lover, Seyfried was struck by the realism of the dead animals, which she considers art.
Since then, her menagerie of dead pets has grown to include a large Zebra that Ted 2 director Seth MacFarlane gave her.
3. Johnny Depp
Apparently, Barbies aren't just for children. It's not confirmed exactly how many dolls Depp has in his collection, but sources have reported that the actor possesses dozens of limited-edition Barbies.
It doesn't end here for the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, as he keeps miniature models of celebrities including Donny Osmond, Beyonce, and Elvis Pressley.
In 2015, Depp told Jimmy Kimmel Live! he used the dolls to test out movie characters. "We played a lot of Barbies, my daughter and I," he said. "I used to test characters on her, yeah, playing Barbies."
4. Leonardo DiCaprio
Another celebrity with a figurine obsession, DiCaprio's guilty pleasure is for action characters. The Great Gatsby star has hundred of figures, from movies including Planet of the Apes, The A-Team, and Space Oddesy.
DiCaprio doesn't keep his whole collection to himself, however. Occasionally he auctions off vintage finds to the "Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation," which funds environmental causes.
5. Tom Hanks
In a 2019 interview with The New York Times, The academy-award winning film star once told how he is an enthusiastic typewriter collector.
He received his first device when he was just 19 years old, and now his collection has escalated to over 120. He said the vintage machines helped him feel grounded after a childhood spent moving around with few permanent possessions.
Praising typewriters Hanks said: "Every machine is as individual as a set of fingerprints. So, every time you type something on a typewriter, it is a one-of-a-kind work of art."
6. Nicole Kidman
Slightly more mundane, but no less prestigious than other celebrity collections, Kidman reportedly collects coins.
The Moulin Rouge star keeps money dating back to the Judean times once held by ancient people in the 4th century BCE.
7. Penélope Cruz
Less surprising for a film star turned fashion icon, Cruz has a staggering number of clothes hangers. The Spanish actress, who has fashion lines at Mango and Loews, reportedly has more than 500 non-metal hangers.
8. Rosie O'Donnell
Ever since she toured America as a stand-up comic in the 1980s, O'Donnell has collected plastic McDonalds toys. The Pitch Perfect star is thought to have around 2,500 Happy Meal pieces, and once turned her office into a custom toy display.
9. Quentin Tarantino
The famous film director's love for pop culture comes out in his collection of television show board games. From Dawn of the Dead to The Dukes of Hazzard, Tarantino is said to have a fantasy of playing each board game with the actor of their respective on-screen characters.
10. Janet Jackson
A final figurine collection to finish the list, Jackson's are more of an acquired taste. Whilst on a break from her musical career, the singer took up a hobby collecting pig memorabilia. Her house soon became crowded with hundreds of porcelain figurines so she abandoned her newfound collection.
"I always wanted a hobby, so I decided to collect pigs," she told Contact Music in 2006. "I have no idea why! And everyone started giving them to me. I had hundreds of pigs. I mean, really, what was I supposed to do with them? So I gave it up!"
