A few too many people showed up for a sceney art opening this week — about 1,900 too many, including a newborn baby.
Thousands of party kids and influencers showed up for art curator Paige Silveria’s “Daisies” show at WeWork event space Creator House on Thursday and caused quite a ruckus. The event was so packed that even “Gossip Girl” star Evan Mock and “Uncut Gems” actress Julia Fox were almost turned away.
“I invited like five people and like 2,000 people came into this thing. I don’t know how any of these people found out about it. It was insane,” Silveria told Page Six.
She estimated that about 800 people didn’t make it through the doors and were stuck outside on E. 21st St. trying to get in. Mock was unable to get his friends in and when Fox showed up with her newborn baby, we’re told, “Everyone was like, ‘You’re not going to let Julia Fox and her baby in?'” according to an old-school partier. “It was a s–t show.”
Supreme’s videographer Bill Strobeck and his crew couldn’t even get past security.
“The elevator broke and it was at capacity inside and everyone was left on the street. There wasn’t enough security,” Silveria said. “People were being kicked out and still somehow snuck back in to hang on the roof.”
This was the third “Daisies” party Silveria hosted. She hosted her first iteration at Public in 2018.
Thursday’s party featured artwork by emerging artists like Frank Dorrey, Matthew Dugan, Dusty, and Lumia Nocito. Dese Escobar and Nick Hadad spun tunes before the event was shut down.
All wasn’t lost: The party kids ended up at the Jane for an impromptu afterparty.
