18 Moments From The Original "Gossip Girl" That I Still Can't Believe Actually Happened - BuzzFeed

Remember when Serena told Blair she killed someone?!

After nine long years, the meddling tones of GG have returned to our screens, and I for one couldn't be happier.

Watching all the brand new Upper East Side drama got me reminiscing about some of the original Gossip Girl storylines that were so wild, they feel like fever dreams...

1. Like when Bart Bass returned after faking his death.

The CW

There were so many questions unanswered, and let's not forget the moment when Bart reappeared as a "ghost" just so he could tell Chuck off.

2. Or when Lily and Rufus discovered their long lost son, only to never see or speak of him again.

The CW

One quick family reunion and then *bam* he was gone. I'm still disappointed that he didn't make a comeback when his brother and sister got married in the finale.

3. Speaking of sons, remember when the notoriously dishonest Georgina successfully convinced Dan he was a father for quite a few episodes.

The CW

Lily literally built a nursery for Milo before they even considered a DNA test. Young Milo kind of faded into obscurity in the original series, so I'm glad he's having his moment in the reboot.

4. When Chuck effectively sold Blair to his uncle to save his hotel.

The CW

Jack tried to steal his nephew's inheritance and then sleep with his girlfriend, Chuck thought his hotel was worth a night with Blair. You already knew this, but the Bass boys are bad eggs.

5. Or when Blair briefly became a literal princess.

The CW

I don't know what's more shocking – the fact that she casually had a museum meet-cute with the Prince of Monaco, or that a Gossip Girl blast was responsible for their breakup.

6. When everyone thought Chuck was dead, but he'd really been shot in Prague...

The CW

Does anyone even remember why he was in Prague in the first place?

7. ...And then spent a while living as a pauper in Paris.

The CW

One of the most dramatic ways to get a fresh start I suppose.

8. When Serena revealed that she killed someone.

The CW

The prospect of Serena being a killer was easily one of the most dramatic moments on the show. That is until we discovered that Serena's definition of killing someone was being with a guy who overdosed, and then running away after calling an ambulance. Traumatic? Yes. Murder? Not quite.

9. And remember the time Serena dated her old teacher, Ben after he was sent to prison because of her?

The CW

Sure, we later found out that Lily was actually responsible, and they were both adults when they dated, but with all that history it was weird.

10. And the few episodes where Dan and Blair dated each other.

The CW

I'm still convinced this relationship was the result of an elaborate fanfiction related prank, because what the hell?!

11. When Ivy tricked the van der Woodsen family into believing she was Charlie, and no one really questioned it.

The CW

The whole stolen identity thing shouldn't really work when you're related to the person, and they've met you before. Also, I feel like the messiness of Charlie being both Serena's cousin and sister was glossed over, but that's a discussion for another day.

12. When Nate became the editor-in-chief of the Spectator.

The CW

He was boring and he (seemingly) dropped out of uni. A true lesson in how money can open doors, I guess.

13. When Dan threw all his friends and family under the bus with the release of Inside.

The CW

He killed off Chuck, called his dad a one-hit-wonder, and let's not forget that he made Serena look so awful that Daniel Day Lewis refused to work with her.

14. The moment that Dan, Olivia, and Vanessa had a threesome.

The CW

A threesome on Gossip Girl should've been anything but shocking, but Dan getting it on with his girlfriend and childhood bestie was pretty random.

15. When Chuck tracked down his supposedly dead mom, and then it got really messy.

The CW

I'm 90% sure Elizabeth was his real mother, but I guess we'll never know why she was so damn mysterious.

16. When Lily thought William was treating her for cancer, but he was really making her sick so that she would fall in love with him again.

The CW

The worst part about the fake cancer storyline is that they eventually ended up together.

17. When Dan was revealed as the mastermind behind Gossip Girl.

The CW

At the time, I was shocked because of all the mystery and intrigue. Now, I just can't believe that a guy dedicated his life to high school drama. OBSESSED.

18. And finally, the fact that Serena and Dan ended up married.

The CW

I know Serena made some questionable choices, but marrying the guy who made a career out of stalking you is really something.
