The CEO of Holy Name Medical Center issued a statement to employees on Thursday about rumors and “outright gossip” circulating following the leave of absence recently taken by the hospital’s top doctor.
The statement to employees came a day after the hospital announced that Dr. Adam Jarrett, chief medical officer at the Teaneck facility, was taking a paid leave of absence amid a review of emails he sent regarding “managerial priorities.”
“Dr. Adam Jarrett has elected to take a paid leave of absence while a subcommittee of the Board reviews email communications related to managerial priorities sent by Dr. Jarrett to the Board (of Trustees),” Maron said in the hospital’s statement on Wednesday.
Then, on Thursday, Maron issued an internal statement — obtained by NJ Advance Media — that sought to address apparent gossip he said has been circulating on the matter — a matter in which few details are currently known, as the hospital has not released any information about the contents of Jarrett’s emails.
“Recently, it has come to my attention that discussions surrounding incomplete or incorrect information related to a managerial issue have devolved into unfound conjecture and outright gossip that is harmful to the Holy Name community and those we care for,” Maron said in the statement.
He said Jarrett took leave while the emails are reviewed by the subcommittee and an independent investigator.
“Holy Name and the Board of Trustees take all issues of this nature seriously,” he added. “The subcommittee of the Board, together with an independent investigator, is expeditiously conducting a thorough investigation of the matters communicated in Dr Jarrett’s emails. We expect that investigation to be concluded soon and then an appropriate course of action shall be determined. It is Holy Name’s policy to keep confidential the substance of, and not to comment on, any ongoing investigations.”
Jarrett has not responded to multiple messages seeking comment.
