Connecticut's recent celebrity gossip and sightings, September 2021 - CT Insider

September brought another month of movie filming and celebrity spotting to the state. Here are some of the highlights.

The third annual Dancing Stars of Greenwich charity dance-off Gala for Abilis, in conjunction with The Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Greenwich, took place at Tamarack Country Club. Greenwich resident and award-winning actor Brendan Fraser, star of “The Mummy," served as a judge.

The Lockwood Mathews Mansion has long been associated with its quintessential New England elegance and the various movies and shows filmed there over the decades. The mansion is now set to star in another movie. While details and contracts are still being worked out, preventing the mansion or the city from sharing what movie will be filming at the mansion, Board of Trustees Chair Patsy Brescia confirmed the movie is a Netflix original film. Filming is expected to start in October.

The Hallmark movie “Christmas in Harlem” was filming at several location in the city, including Hartford’s Union Station, as well as the NY Market and Deli on the corner of Main Street and Linden Place. The Hartford locations weren’t the only stops used in the movie’s filming. On Sept. 20, Rocky Hill ice cream shop Scoops & Sprinkles shared photos on Facebook that gave a sneak peak into their involvement with “Christmas in Harlem.”

ESPN journalist Hannah Storm hosted the 7th annual “Celebrity Waiter Night Cocktail Party” event for her foundation in Stamford's The Village. During the event, a number of sports names and celebrities served as "celebrity waiters." Among them: Katie Couric, Patrick McEnroe, Lara Spencer, Isaiah Thomas, Justin Tuck and Bobby Valentine, former baseball manager running for mayor of Stamford.

Over 200 guests attended The 2nd Annual Champion A Champion Golf Classic, Subway Series 21st Anniversary at Tamarack Country Club in Greenwich. The event featuring a round of golf and dinner with celebrities including former New York Yankees All-Star Hideki Matsui, former Yankees manager Joe Torre, former New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine and GCI Global President and Founder Yumi Kuwana. The money raised at the golf classic goes to the Matsui 55 Baseball Foundation and the Global Citizens Initiative (GCI).

Award-winning soap opera star Susan Lucci and her husband, Austrian chef and TV producer Helmut Huber, were seen celebrating their 52nd wedding anniversary at The Homestead Inn in the Belle Haven section of Greenwich. Lucci is celebrated for her portrayal of the iconic character of Erica on “All My Children.”
