When Will 'Gossip Girl' Season 2 Premiere on HBO Max? - Decider

The holiday season just got a lot steamier with the premiere of Gossip Girl Part 2. After three months of waiting, fans can finally see what became of all those hookups and betrayals. But we know the drill. Six episodes, even six remarkable episodes, simply aren’t enough.

We know you want to watch as much as this addicting drama as possible. Thats where we come in. Consider this your guide to everything we know about the future of Gossip Girl Season 2.

Will There Be a Gossip Girl Season 2?

You know this queen isn’t going away any time soon. In September, it was announced that GG will be returning for another season. At the moment, we don’t know what this new installment will be about or who will be in it. But we’re hoping all of our favorites will be returning, and you know Joshua Safran will be involved.

When Does Gossip Girl Season 2 Premiere?

The short answer? We have no idea.

The longer answer? WarnerMedia ordered the revival in July of 2019. Despite that early order, casting didn’t really take off until spring of 2020, and Part 1 premiered on July 8, 2021. That’s a fairly standard TV timeline, which is especially impressive considering the mass delays COVID-19 has caused Hollywood. Assuming the show’s production timeline stays on track, we can likely expect new episodes of Gossip Girl to premiere in the summer of 2022.

How Many Episodes Will Be in Gossip Girl Season 2?

That’s another unknown. If Season 2 follows Season 1, we can expect 12 new episodes.

Is There a Gossip Girl Season 2 Trailer?

Not yet. We’ll let you know as soon as that changes.

How Did Gossip Girl Season 1 End?

With the usual: betrayals, scandal, and an alliance with Gossip Girl herself. Let us explain. And yes, there are spoilers ahead.

The spiral of the season belonged to Julien (Jordan Alexander). After learning that her dad had been accused of sexual assault, Julien launched into PR mode, bringing Monet (Savannah Smith) and Luna (Zión Moreno) back to her side. But saving Julien from herself was easier said than done. In the final episodes of Season 1, Julien switched between panicking about her social status, pining over the now-taken Obie (Eli Brown), lamenting her new life as Zoya’s (Whitney Peak) roommate, and deciding whether or not she hated her father. It was a lot of emotions, and by the end of it, it drove almost all of her friends away.

Speaking of a lot, hello Audrey (Emily Alyn Lind), Aki (Evan Mock), and Max (Thomas Doherty). After their threesome, the trio found themselves in a rut. Max realized he was over meaningless sex, and Audrey and Aki realized that they were over a two-person relationship. Though Max initially fought it, eventually they came to an agreement that worked for all. Either all three of them are in a relationship together or none of them are. This throuple just became permanent.

Less permanent is Zoya’s status at Constance. Since Zoya could only attend Constance thanks to a scholarship from Davis Calloway (Luke Kirby), once Calloway turned toxic, Constance dropped the scholarship money. Zoya temporarily found another benefactor in Jeremy O. Harris, but she squandered that opportunity. We know that Zoya, Julien, and her dad will be getting a nice apartment thanks to Davis’ generosity. But at the moment Zoya’s place in high school remains unclear.

Now onto the next major player in this morality play: Kate (Tavi Gevinson). Earlier in Part 2, Kate decided to spill the beans on every single Gossip Girl tip, forcing these teenagers to confront their own hypocrisies. This was supposed to be a mass cleansing and a retirement of sorts for Gossip Girl. Well, after being dressed down by an entitled Constance parent and getting into a fight with Nick(Johnathan Fernandez), Kate changed her tune.

After Julien made up with Zoya and Obie, she reached out to Gossip Girl and offered a deal: “mutually assured destruction, from one bitch to another.” Julien proposed sending GG everything she knows with some lies sprinkled in to keep things interesting. But at the same time, Julien will do everything in her power to stop Gossip Girl once and for all. Kate, ready to burn things down, readily accepted.

Why did Julien do this? What does lying to Gossip Girl even accomplish? Is Monet really going to challenge Julien for the crown? When did Zoya get so many friends? That’s what Season 2 is for, darlings.
