Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester is set to star alongside her actor husband and The OC alum Adam Brody for a new thriller called The River Wild (via Deadline).
This is a reimagining of a 1994 adventure film of the same name and is currently in production in Hungary. These two actors will also be joined by Taran Killam.
The film follows a brother (Killam) and sister (Meester) who have a fraught relationship and this comes to a head when they go on a white-water rafting trip with a small group, including their childhood friend (Brody). But this friend isn't all that he appears and things soon take a dangerous turn.

The original thriller starred Meryl Streep, Kevin Bacon, David Strathairn, John C. Reilly, Benjamin Bratt and Joseph Mazzello as a family who fought for survival from violent criminals whilst on a white-water rafting trip in the wilderness.
Speaking about this movie, Glenn Ross, who is the general manager and Executive Vice President of Universal 1440 Entertainment, said: "We are excited to announce a thrilling new The River Wild story, with fresh characters and a story that brings the universe to new audiences and fans of the original.
"The production features a talented cast, and we think movie lovers will be excited by director Ben Ketai's modern take on the popular classic film."

Meester was last seen in The Weekend Away, which was based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Alderson. Talking about making the film, she told Newsweek that she was playing the same "guessing game" when she read the script and even when she watched the final movie.
"I think that it was really fun watching it even knowing the reveal [at the end]. There are maybe clues here and there that you can, that you can sort of check-in on upon a second or third viewing," she explained.
The River Wild will debut in 2023, although a release date has not been set.
