The World Cup is over so here comes the transfer gossip, with Sofyan Amrabat keen on Liverpool and West Ham eyeing a Jesse Lingard repeat.
WAN-BISSAKA IS MAN IN DEMAND
There was talk of Wolves being interested in Aaron Wan-Bissaka on Saturday but Sunday brought news of new suitors, with the Manchester Evening News claiming that West Ham are interested in signing the English right-back on loan in the January transfer window after it worked out so well for them with Jesse Lingard.
That would certainly seem to be an excellent fit as West Ham boss David Moyes has not settled on a right-back this season, with Thilo Kehrer playing there out of position while Vladimir Coufal and Ben Johnson have been relegated to the bench.
West Ham have lost their last three Premier League games so could definitely use some help in January, while Wan-Bissaka is very much on the periphery at Manchester United, playing only four minutes of first-team football this season.
AMRABAT PREFERS LIVERPOOL
It’s hardly a surprise but Foot Mercato claims that Sofyan Amrabat ‘has a preference for Liverpool’ as suitors line up for the Moroccan midfielder who has been a revelation at this World Cup. Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and an unnamed German club are also credited with an interest but it’s Liverpool who are heading this particular race.
Via Google translate, here’s what the report says: ‘For the moment, the Moroccan international, who wants to discover the Premier League, has a preference for Liverpool but nothing is not played at the moment.’ The price mentioned is just £35m, which would be something of a bargain, especially considering how much Jude Bellingham is likely to cost.
AND THEN THERE’S CAICEDO
Chelsea and Liverpool are interested in signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to Sky Sports. But Chelsea boss Graham Potter will know better than anybody that the Seagulls absolutely do not need to sell the Ecuadorean this January and will wait until summer at the earliest after filling their coffers with way too much money for Marc Cucurella in the summer of 2022.
There is also interest from Chelsea in Bayer Leverkusen central defender Piero Hincapie as the Blues see the Ecuadorean has a cheaper alternative to RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol, who has probably moved out of their bracket with his performances at this World Cup.
