The daily gossip: July 7 2023 - The Week

Drop everything now. "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" has finally debuted, but not without a key tweak. The track "Better Than Revenge," which Swift seemingly wrote about actress Camilla Belle supposedly stealing Joe Jonas from her, originally contained the infamous lyric, "She's better known for the things that she does on the mattress." It hasn't exactly aged well, and after years of slut-shaming accusations, Swift has revised that line on the re-recorded version. The lyric has been changed to, "He was a moth to the flame, she was holding the matches." Other than that, the re-recording is largely faithful to the 2010 album, but with some new tracks added in "from the vault." One of them, "Timeless," seems to be inspired by Swift's grandparents, whose photos are used in the lyric video. Another is called "When Emma Falls in Love," and fans are convinced it's about Swift's friend Emma Stone — and possibly her relationship with Kieran Culkin. Coming in 2036: "Succession (Taylor's Version)."
