Good morning, Upper East Siders! Hopefully your Thanksgiving dinner was much less dramatic than those of the Humphreys, Van der Woodsens, Waldorfs, and Archibalds of years past, and your sweet potatoes weren't bland. The team behind the reboot of the beloved CW series Gossip Girl is here to sweeten the holiday weekend with a little treat — a sneak peek at the new generation of St. Jude and Constance Billard students!
The official GG Instagram account recently shared a quick video teaser of some of the new show's main cast, including Thomas Doherty, Emily Alyn Lind, and Savannah Lee Smith, in their prep school uniforms hanging in the courtyard, just as Dan, Serena, Blair, Chuck, and the rest of their predecessors used to do. "Class is in session at Constance Billard. Remember: no phones allowed…except for mine. XOXO, Gossip Girl," the account wrote in the voice of the omnipresent narrator.
In the video, Savannah is seen rocking a very Blair-esque ensemble of matching tweed jacket and skirt with a satchel bag, while Emily's character goes for a more Serena-style twist on the Constance uniform. Evan Mock's character has shaved pink hair and a skateboard, and Zion Moreno wears a loose tie with a miniskirt and a cute teeny bag. Jordan Alexander, who could be the new queen bee, rocks the boots we've seen her in before, as well as an oversized shirt and tie.
And that's not all — a handful of new images have surfaced from the reboot as it films in New York City, including a peek at some over-the-top Gossip Girl gala gowns. The latest batch shows both Thomas Doherty and Jordan Alexander wearing retro-style varsity jackets (is this Riverdale?), which definitely never happened on the designer-heavy previous series. Another photo shows Savannah, Jordan, and Zion hanging on a balcony, with Savannah and Jordan wearing miniskirts and white turtlenecks (and Jordan's ever-present high boots), and Zion in a white tank, cardigan, and bow choker.
While the show doesn't premiere until early 2021, we know that the fashion will be a bit different from the original series; one of the first teasers was a picture of Golden Goose sneakers, something S and B never wore. We're seeing more oversized pieces, bike shorts, and tote bags — a Gen Z-style twist on what teens are actually wearing today. The original costume designer, Eric Daman, is once again at the helm, so we know the outfits are going to be good — and we know a lot of drama is coming our way so soon. You know you love it!
