Chelsea have turned down Arsenal’s opening offer for Kai Havertz, while Manchester City defender Kyle Walker could be off to Bayern Munich…
CHELSEA FACE A DILEMMA
The Blues have rejected an opening offer from Arsenal as they look to buy Kai Havertz ths summer, according to reports.
Havertz looks set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer with Chelsea ready to sell the Germany international after three seasons at the Premier League club.
He will forever be remembered for his Champions League final goal in 2021 but Havertz never never really lived up to his £71m price tag.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed yesterday that Havertz had “given the green light” to a potential transfer to Arsenal with the 24-year-old open to a move across London.
Romano tweeted: “Understand Kai Havertz has given green light to Arsenal contract bid after positive indications #AFC No problem on personal terms. Arsenal & Chelsea in contact — no chance for £75m but Chelsea will be flexible. Bayern, informed… but still quiet. Real 100% out of the race.”
Arsenal now look to be the frontrunners for Havertz’s signature but they still have to agree a fee, with the Daily Telegraph claiming Chelsea ‘have turned down an opening bid from Arsenal’ for the German.
They don’t specify how much the Gunners offered for Havertz, although Chelsea are demanding £70m, ‘but face a dilemma over whether or not they can hold out for their asking price’.
The Telegraph adds:
‘It is understood that Chelsea are willing to sell Havertz to Arsenal for the right price, as the German has two years remaining on his contract and has not indicated a desire to sign an extension.
‘Havertz earns around £250,000-a-week at Chelsea and Arsenal are believed to be willing to match that salary to take the Germany international to the Emirates.’
SNUBBING SHEFFIELD UNITED FOR BAYERN?
Bayern Munich want to bring Manchester City defender Kyle Walker to the Bundesliga if Benjamin Pavard leaves this summer, according to reports.
The Daily Mail claims that the German club are ‘discussing a move’ for Walker with Bayern drawing up ‘a list of options should Benjamin Pavard leave and Thomas Tuchel is keen on Walker’.
Walker, 33, has one year remaining on his contract after helping Man City to the Treble this season but could now consider leaving after admitting he was “disappointed” to be left out of the Champions League final.
There have been reports recently suggesting that boyhood club Sheffield United could try pulling on his heart strings this summer and attempt to bring him back to Bramall Lane – but a move to the Blades seems very unlikely for a number of reasons.
AND THE REST…
